...Nohr? Hoshido? Do you mean Conquest and Birthright? That's what they're called here. I'm... Probably gonna get all three sometime soon. Fucking adore Fire Emblem. :D
The two families are Nohr and Hoshido. Nohr is western style like the older games and is harder of the two. Hoshido is more eastern styled which hasn't been seen before in FE
Except in Awakening, where there was an eastern-styled culture that a couple of party members are from.

Please read the whole discussion, RAM. No one is trying to claim that predators have never hunted humans. Rather we're trying to say that, if you want to make a realistic ecosystem and survival game, making predators more vicious as the game progresses is actually the exact opposite of real life. While there are always outliers such as those man-eating lions, the vast majority of wild predatory animals stay well clear of humans as much as possible. Despite our lack of sharp fangs or claws, we're still a species of rather large and strong animals and we have tools to help us kill any threats.

The RPG trope of packs of angry wolves attacking villages regardless of their own losses is almost certainly based entirely in fiction.

That's the thing though, humanity never spent much time as prey. Not after we hit the hunter-gatherer stage, anyway.
I wouldn't say that is entirely true.
One local incident doesn't color multiple generations of civilized history. The simple fact is that for a long time most people who died have NOT been killed and eaten by predators.
Pretty much what I wanted to say but couldn't find the words for.

In the context of realism, why would the predators get more vicious over time?
Familiarity.
You're gonna have to explain that to me. Wouldn't predators actually get less vicious over time, as they come to recognize the human tribe's "territory" and stay away? At most they'd strike at isolated humans wandering too far away from the tribe, but for the most part they'd just stay out of the way. Especially if the humans managed to kill any of the predators.

((It was just a note for future reference, you didn't need to add it. Like I thought, it didn't affect the outcome in this case anyway c: ))

((I actually do get a +1 to Survival checks for hunting game, due to my Pantheist trait, but I don't think it would have helped a roll of 5 :P ))

Ritiki began to feel a bit foolish, stomping around trying to act like some sort of ranger. He'd spent most of his life in a large coastal city; he had virtually no experience in the wilderness!

* Sirus impatiently waits for the local game stores to open

Normally the West Coast is pretty sweet, but on the other hand we have to wait longer for our game releases. Damn you, time zones! :P

Spent an hour and a half directly controlling my elite troops, trying to stealthily take out these German patrols and machine gun nests. Half the squad got wiped out along with both medics by a nebelwerfer and eventually I was down to just one man, a sniper. He infiltrated further into enemy territory than any of my other units until eventually he was surrounded inside a structure by more than a dozen German soldiers. He managed to light his bundle of TNT, meant for the enemy's motor pool, the instant before he was shot to death. It detonated on the first floor in the center of the building, blowing through all the floors and knocking a hole in the roof of the three story structure, killing or wounding everyone in the street outside.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
At least he went out with a bang.

Don't forget, this is the Dwarf Fortress forum. Plenty of metallurgy experts, aspirants, and enthusiasts here, and just about everyone on the upper boards can probably list off the process for smelting various kinds of alloys - steel included.

Combine that with the aforementioned high numbers of Russians and I can see why such a bot would visit :P

So uh. It doesn't look like it's been mentioned on the last page or so but Danganronpa got ported to PC. Apparently they're planning to port the sequel as well.

My impression is that it's sort of a VN, which definitely get mentioned in this thread from time to time, so I figure I'll go ahead and post the news here.
