Though, I would mention to him that the game starts off a bit slow. If he's a little bored by the Ruins, assure him the game picks up a afterwards in both difficulty and story.

+1 again. If anybody tells you to "play it X way", my advice is to curse their bloodlines to the last generation, throw something at them, and then play it Y way just to spite them.

I am really sick of seeing people go "I won't spoil it for you, but DON'T KILL ANYBODY! It ruins the game!!!!" Goddammit, that is wrong. Accidentally killing Toriel, getting taunted by Flowey and going back to do it right, only for Toriel to tell you you look like you saw a ghost and your first in-battle conversation attempt mention telling her you saw her die, plus the subsequent dressing-down by Flowey about the hypocrisy of sparing Toriel when you've eaten Vegetoid and murdered Froggit, and that he knows you're using the Save function to undo your mistakes? That's an absolutely important gameplay experience that most people who've been recommended the game seem to miss because some busybody tells them not to even attack anything before they even start playing.

Goddammit, encountering that mindfuck right there in the demo was what sold me on buying the game when it came out! Other people should be allowed to have that experience too!
