: "I...I don't know. I'll have to think about it for a while...You are correct, light magic can be powerful at times, or in the right circumstances. But you need to have some power of your own to make it work properly, and I don't seem to have that." She stared out at the ocean, feeling the her eyes beginning to burn with frustrated tears but refusing to let them show.

: "I never thought I'd be missing the convent. Back there I was the best of the initiates in our defense classes, but out here I can see just how badly outclassed I am. It is a...humbling experience."

Amberly listened to Cetus' words. She didn't believe them, didn't really think that he believed them, but at least he was trying. The only thing she brought to the crew that no one else could do better was her worship of the Old Gods, and she didn't see how that could help a bunch of Undine worshipers - at least two of whom hated her.

: "Hmm. Perhaps you're right; it's only been two days after all. Hopefully there will be some sort of role I can fill." The nun gazed out towards the ocean wistfully. "I can't help but wish that I had chosen to learn how to use staffs rather than tomes. At least then I could help a little more than I do now."

9889
Move to 22-X and grab the tome from the dude.

It's okay Sword, we'll make it. And if not...well, I have some quarters. Should be enough for an extra try.

9892
Heh. I played a game of D&D 3.5 where we had a halfling do exactly that. Ride a mastiff into battle like some sort of warhorse :D

The nun added the final touch to the little shrine, a metal bowl in which incense could be burned. She placed the bowl on the deck with a little more force than required.

: "Watching your crew for the past two days, it's become fairly clear to me that I'm the weakest one here. I could not swing an axe or a sword if my life depended on it, and my magical ability is abysmal. It seems that, for the forseeable future, I will only be a burden on everyone else...and I hate that fact." She forced herself to calm down enough so that the fury left her voice.

: "You already helped out as much as you could, with that ring. The rest is up to fate and myself."

I wouldn't compare it to Dynasty Warriors, really. It lacks the requisite army of NPCs that only exist to give the player a better score. But it is certainly more of an Action-RPG than it is a fighting game.

While the crew bantered and argued, Amberly took advantage of the momentary lull and her current lack of seasickness to prepare her shrine. Unfortunately it had to be near Stheno's workshop, but she assumed that space on deck was a premium and so she accepted the spot gratefully. She was still unpacking the heavy sack containing the materials when Cetus showed up, and shrugged before answering his question.

: "I suppose it could be worse. Physically I'm fine. And no one I know died, so that's a plus. Plus it wasn't my first battle so I suppose I'm starting to get used to it."

The nun set up a small stand upon which she placed a stone tablet. The tablet was engraved with the mark of the Old Gods and had lines of text in the Old Tongue carved in the space below the mark.

: "If you had to pick a single word I guess it would be...irritation."

9897
Amberly returned to the Blackbones, trying not to look at the carnage inflicted.

: At least it is finally over. Maybe the rest of the voyage will go smoothly.

9898
: "Normally the purpose of nonlethal traps is so you can capture the intruder, torture them for information, then execute them. But these ruins are probably hundreds of years old, and whoever made the traps is long dead. I have no idea why we're only being hindered instead of killed outright."

9899
I kinda get the feeling that we should abandon the keep. There's just too many dudes rushing our way, we're split up, and we'll be losing a healer pretty soon. We just can't hope to stop them all if they all rush at once.
