Keep in mind that our vats can only clone FOUR clones at any one time.
This is why we should get another cloning module, and a cryogenic module, to freeze emergency warriors for a time of need.

Keep up focused fire, splitting to individual fire if the wolves spread out. Can we set the lasers to pulse fire, as in, more heat less cutting? If we set them on !!fire!! they should be less of a threat.

I agree. It is possible that flames would scare/disperse the group of attacking bear-like creatures. Maybe even setting the fence on fire. Though I don't know what its made of. But I can't imagine a wild animal continuing to attack a flaming fence. If their hides are thick and inflammable we might be able to generate smoke amidst them as to simulate a wildfire situation, possibly causing them to attempt to relocate, by aiming at debris below them.
It's raining. Nothing is going to burn very well. Stick to the normal lasers. And continue the focus fire tactic. but as soon as that clone gets the fence into position as a ladder have the armed personel climb onto the roof the have the worker remove the fence section and place it against the door of the other housing module. (the one without people on it's roof) as a barricade. THen the worker should take one of the lumber tools and go chainsaw massacre on the wolf-lobsters

The augury bears ill news. THe body of the sacrifice Showed a Dwarf raising a masterful shield, Which obviously means we Should be on our guard, While the Head of the sacrifice, the seat of knowledge, landed on a scene of An elf killing a twilight freak. This clear battle of good and evil shows that it is combat we should prepare for, But we should prevail victors. WHile I have misgivings about being represented as an elf surely they are better neighbours then twilight freaks. Truly the Grand Engraver Vahir Has been touched by Armok, to have such talent.

1st of obsidion.
A peasant is carrying a flameing sock around lighting everything around him on fire. I could tell him to drop it, but it's sort of funny to watch so i'm going to allow it. It burnt to ash, but at least it'll burn some of the cloth crap outside to ash with it. Also I can't help but fel this wall of fire outside our Gates is a great deterent to those who would do us harm, and Armok told us to be on guard.

4th of Obsidion
A band of rhesus Macaque Are raiding us. Good. We have a lot of worthless crap outside and I already locked the gates to Protect us from the rising threat. Those stupid monkeys are welcome to whatever they can steal.

24th of Obsidion.
After testing the magma mines I believe I have figured out how to finally Get them working.
First We need to Have them Pumps flanked by walls, or else the pressurised Magma will flow out. Secondly Pumps only pressuerise magma from a z-level below, So I dug a ditch which will be filled with magma.

It should look like this:
Code: [Select]
#########
#.##.##.#
#%##%##%#
#%##%##%#
+.++.++.+

#     walls
%    Pumps
.      Empty Space
+     Floor

Then the magma traps should work. Hopefully.

Thanks for the posts all, with the new systems in place what interesting modding possibilities now arise from said new version?
That's more of a question for the modding page. But It'll open up a lot of possibilites in the reactions and interactions. In the current and previous versions there weren't any ingested poisons, And the only way to get a syndrome was from HFS, Titans, and FB's and a few misc others. Now with interactions you can apply syndromes and the like to materials. SUch as a sword made of Rottium, a special metal which causes anything it touches to rot. (warning: wear gloves) similarly There is the raising of the undead, which had no interaction before. There were zombies and skeltons wandering around but they were just there. Nobody raised them. Now there are people actually raising the dead with interactions. THis opens the door for modded magic and spells. In the current version even if you mod in a dragon adventurer, you can't at will breathe dragon fire (this may be wrong. I haven't tested it.) now you should be able to.

You left two laser next to the cloning module.

Those are spares. In case one of the weapon our combat clones has now run out of carge, they'll pick up the spare and use it. More effective then having non-combat clones waste shots and time.

Shouldn't the rainextinguish those torches?
Also Have the scientist climb onto the roof to get a safer vantage point. These dogs May be able to break down a door or a fence, but they don't look like climbers

If you're willing to lose a fort or two in the effort, You should build a pumpstack or if you're looking for a challenge a magma piston. these are always good things to learn and it can be a lot of ‼FUN‼ learning them.

Perhaps we should think about getting another cloning module? Not right now, But for the future. If we can turn out an army in a short period that would be good. Also we should check for cryostasis units, so we can freeze warriors and clones we can't afford to feed and unfreeze them in times of need.

 Oh and
Get the clones to focus fire on any wolf likely to get around the fence first.

I guess we should be glad it was only a basic clone that died.

Dothki Casts detect aura and quietly goes to the entrance of the large room. Detect aura notices several sleeping aura and no alert auras. The sound of snoring can be heard from within. The air smells of booze. Moving slightly into the room it appears to be filled with a full 35 people sleeping on th floor or at tables. There are epty wine bottles and mugs of rum scattered around the room. Looks like someone had a party. They ust have had some reason to celebrate. Most of the men appear to be well armed and well armoured, except for five noticeble exceptions who carry no obvious weapons and are wearing long black robes rather then armour. Two of the People in black are laying near large wooden boxes. Dothki Sends a silent message to Elena to get ready to slit some throats.

The room has Four exits.

I think we should upon waking take samples of the water in the river to make sure it's potable. It could run through a poison swamp, or a seam of arsenic or even be tainted with the off flow of a rival colony. Second you see if the Agriculture module can use the slightly poisonous water from the plumpet pods. Or we could have a clone dig a well to see if we can use the ground water,  OR we could see about purifiying said plumpet pods, By say researching a clone with an extra bladder like organ on it's back, filled with water. We will call them the Camel Clone. This is optional, if we can't find better water.

I just had a weird dream about a new version of DF while I was napping... I don't remember much of it, but Toady was saying (in some strange, dreamt-up version of a devlog) that he'd just squashed another couple of bugs.
One was where the creatures in the underground caverns/catacombs beneath a city could hear the humans above talking, and another where his test adventurer went to a city, got two town guards to escort him to where the monsters were coming out from the catacombs, and one of the two was wearing sunglasses, which was apparently a bug. :P
There was more to it than that, but... Yeaaah.
Man I've had a weirder df dream then that.

I was actually an Adventurer with a first person view point. everything was blocky and Coloured in the appropriate Ascii graphics, So I was walking through a minecraft style forest fighting goblins made out a humanoid shaped collection of blue "g"'s. And then I thought how the "g"s looked like a swarm of wasps and it all went down hill.

Dro-Shavir Quickly unlocks the store room door, revealing large chests, Huge arrels, stacks of crates and shelves filled with bulging bags. It would probably take Over an hour to go through all this.

Mazrul and Lilum Listen at the cave opening waiting for some sign that the fight had been noticed. The only sound coming from the room is loud snoring.

On the 8th of timber the Former overseer Earned the Rank Swordmaster!
Happy days indeed.

Goat has Grown attached to an Iron shield.

Winter Has fallen upon us. Thankfully the autumn was uneventful.

I Shall cast another Augury and pray to Armok For Guidance.

22nd of moonstone. I ordered a test run of the magma mines while the augury chamber was going under some modifications.
The mines failed. THe pumps were working and everything but. No magma was coming out of the shafts. I have a few ideas on how to resolve this.
