lets say i had a dwarf with full steel equipment in adventure mode, then i retire him in a village. when i start a fort and he shows up will he keep said equipment OR,

if i had a goblin with full steel equipment and i retire him could he show up with steel equipment to ambush or siege me?

i have had a idea floating around where i would start a fort make a bunch of steel weapons then start a lot of goblin adventurers who will steal said weapons, then start a new fort and have them show up in ambushes and stuff with bad ass weapons to create lots of !FUN!

DF Gameplay Questions / fast way to encrust/stud items
« on: November 06, 2014, 05:17:12 am »
i always have a fort with lots of gems and gold/silver, but i never have found a good way to use them.
i kinda want weapons to be studded but they always take the same one, so i have 1 weapon studded 10 times while the others are not.
do people here have a way to stockpile the studded ones in a different stockpile then the non-sudded ones.
the same with items for example a specific statue i want to encrust but i just cant make then take the specific one.

I want to try to kill all the humans in a save in adventure mode however.
finding every single human is going to be difficult so my question is.
is there any why('s) to see where human towns are or a why to see how many humans are left?

DF Gameplay Questions / how to fight undead?
« on: March 31, 2012, 04:50:58 am »
i have had a single undead raven that got near my stockpile. when that happend i thought it was a good idea to dump my refuse pile into a river.
all of the body's and skulls are now in a river and there not becoming a walking corpse. howevere the insect remains are not being dumped so when a new corpse came it came to live.

so my question if i can't dump the insect remains (that are obilisly infected) how do i make sure to not get any undead. how do i fight the undead?

DF Gameplay Questions / how to tame wild animals
« on: March 29, 2012, 06:19:07 am »
oke so i have opened a cave and i have a crundle, a cave crawler, a troll and a cave dragon.
i found out that i can't train a troll so lets just skip him.
my animal trainer trained the cave crawler, cave dragon and crundle to semi-wild, but he doesn't do anything anymore.
so does that mean there tame or am i doing somethinf wrong. i dont use the kennel(i have 1) but use  Z->animals and set a trainer.
i have looked something up in training wiki and it said something about civ level. where can i find my civ level and knowledge that i have about animals.

Prologue

The Boredom of Bears

Well this is just great….
Come on just because some weird mojo mofing oracle claims there will be some sort of attack and the only way to prevent it is to build a fort.
Doesn’t mean it has to be me and some other morons that has to build the it.

This is the diary of Melkor, I was send to some got forsaken land to build a fort.
Ooh but wait it’s getting better. I have to do it with people I have never met before and who probably never have had any experience whatsoever.
Let’s just hope I can retire soon.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
My god what is it warm in here. And there are too many god dam trees here our woodcutter needs to fix that.
As i scan my surroundings i can see a couple of wildlife some will argue that they could be dangerous, but i think they will make great pets.
Well i guess this is it..... better get started don’t want some animals eating us now do we?

I have decided to call this Fortress The Boredom of Bears.... really deep if you ask me,
and our group will be called Reditch...shit guys i had to call us something.

DF Community Games & Stories / a experimental succession fort idea
« on: August 15, 2011, 08:44:22 am »
i have this weird idea for a succession fort so i am just going to trown it out.

I will pick 4 random people and give 1 of them a fort that i have played for some time.
You will have no idea how it will look like or in what state it will be.

The first overseer will get 1 season to play then the next one will also have 1 season to play and so on.
Till the first year is over then i will decide who of the 4 overseers will get what season.

and we do this for 2-3 years.(or more just what works)

i dont know if this will be any fun, but it has never been done yet so i think lets give it a try.

if there are 4 people willing to do this just post and we will see.
