How would you asphyxiate when you're being crucified?

They don't tear your lungs, do they?

Eventually you lose the strength to hold yourself up and your windpipe gets squashed by your own weight.

It's pretty fun :D
...You have a weird sense of fun. Even for DF players.

SHUTUPI'MNORMAL!

So... yeah. Anyone want to come to a crucifixion party later on?

would water pressure not flood the 2 rightmost tunnel squares though?

I don't think water becomes pressurized unless using a pump.

It does. You'd have to push the water through a U-bend with a grate in it, then fish from the surface (but you can build a hut there, so that's OK).

It was probably something to do with a single dwarf being able to turn a massive chunk of solid rock into a small lump that can be carried by hand... and then turned back into a solid wall again.

I look through the songs on this page and choose one I like from the parodies section:D

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?

The magma death chamber is up and running.

Unfortunately it fills up slowly and the magma "evaporates" a tad too slow. On top of this, the fast units like trolls get to the fort end of the chamber before the goblin squads do, meaning I must either close the chamber, preventing the squads from pathing into the fort, or I must have a buttload of traps to catch the fast ones while the slow squads catch up. I didn't realize this until after I had committed to destroying the latest siege, so the first couple runs have been very, very slow. However, two goblin squads have been melted in the chamber, and the siege was broken. Now to work on filling the chamber faster, shrinking the total room size with bridges or something to allow for better drainage, and executing the prisoners of war.

You could build loads and loads of doors in the way, so that the early units get delayed while destroying those and the others have time to catch up.

I once had one made of refuse with deadly dust. My fortress didn't last long.

In the end I just opened the gates to let in the hordes of goblins who happened to be waiting outside.

I had my entire embark group crushed within seconds once by a group of skeletal one-humped camels.

I reclaimed and built some walls for protection, but spent the next half-hour or so trying to clear up all the items on the surface, amidst cries of 'THE CAMELS ARE COMING!' every few minutes, followed by a mad dash inside the drawbridge.

I've got all that, but I've got a dwarf who's just loitering around and generating alerts because he can't grab hold of things due to nerve damage.

I had one of them once.

I starved him to death for being different.

Was there need for that? I mean, if he couldn't grab things he would be unable to feed himself? Or were other dwarves feeding him?

I actually locked him in his room because he was causing job cancellation spam. I don't think I left him long enough to see if he could get food on his own.

Anyway, 'need' is a dirty word on this forum.

So what happens when a necromancer gets in a Strange Mood?

This is a masterwork tower-cap zombie. It menaces with spikes of bismuth bronze. On the item is a picture of zombies and cheese. The zombies are laughing.

I have no graphical lag

I challenge you to find me any computer which gets graphical lag on Dwarf Fortress.

It literally has to render nothing but 300-ish (I'm completely guessing here, but it's a fairly small number) little bitmaps.

That sounds like FB blood to me. That's the best explanation I can think of though...

Builders/miners slack off, sometimes even sell materials for !!booze!!

That is hardcore. Most nations just stick with booze.
