That's a very bad idea. Not only it wont work (and will likely end up making things worse). It sounds kind of sad. The kind of thing that looks amusing in "Saved by the Bell" but only inspires external shame in real life.

It's worked for me in the past.

Uh, no, ad hominems, moral attacks, and other fallacious reasoning, are NOT ways of going on debates.

You've never won a debate, have you? :p

RF is the token "Don't listen to this guy ever" for the thread.  Every advice thread has one.  Don't listen to him.

I'm here to help, not tell people pretty lies.

To be honest, Britain is a collapsing mess. Apathy and corruption is rampant and it's the economy is collapsing (still collapsing, yes) without anyone wanting to make drastic reforms to fix it.

But that's like every country, right?

I had a very, very strong compulsion to check the windows / doors of my house every day even if I'd check them already (seperately) or if I knew someone else had locked up. Even worse if I heard someone go downstairs in the night. I'd have to go around and check every window and door.

I just tamed it by not paying attention to it for awhile. I broke out in sweats resisting the urges and I was so panicky that I couldn't sleep properly, but I eventually got rid of it. :p I still check the doors (I live in a house with at least one person who has in the past woken up, drunk, went downstairs and left the back door wide open) and windows, but I can do it seperately or not at all if I don't feel like.

My suggestions is to take some sweets or something to bed with you. When you resist the urge, eat something that makes you feel good / happy. It'll make you be rewarded for resisting (or make you develop a revulsion towards sweets... which is good for weight loss?) and reduce the need.

All three of the ad spaces are now for the same electronic cigarette. I don't know why this pisses me off, it just does.

In the city near me, they've started approaching people trying to sell them.

THAT pisses me off. My friend is underaged for smoking and she was approached by them and they even tried to force her to try it out before she threatened to report them to the police.

I'm voting that the destruction of the Green Sun will restore Jade to life.

...Somehow.

I love it, and I gotta say that there are a lot of problems through the story, especially from an archive readers perspective. My sister couldn't get into it 'till one of her friends forced her to go through act1, where she started to take an interest. Right up 'till the troll arc, where you suddenly have a ton of chatlogs about mysterious bullshit in typing quirks for characters you don't care about because shit what happened with John and Jade and Rose and Dave?! You only really start caring for the trolls around the end of their arc as they have had some moments together.

To go back act 1 is kind of a pain to go through, there is a lot of time bullshit people don't care for, Daves irony takes a while to stop being infuriatingly stupid, Jade doesn't do a goddam thing until she enters the medium, Rose just sort of stops being important until you see her in the Punisher dress and the Felt intermission is just a time waster.

 I could go on.

It's a mark of a good thing when none of this matters to some people.

True. I had trouble wading through Act 1 the first time, but I've since reread it and appreciate it a lot more.

And, yeah. The troll arc is irritating until you get how awesome the characters are. Equius and Nepeta definitely made it managable, though. They should probably have been introduced earlier in the arc because their dialog and actions are genuinely hilarious.

I have to hand it to Hussie, this shit is engrossing. In my Literature class the other day, we were discussing the emotional conveyance of some Literature, yo, and I had to catch myself before I likened it to parts of Homestuck. Fucking epic saga man.

You should try it. :p

It's so frustrating that there are people that don't LIKE Homestuck. My friend and I seem to like almost all the same stuff, but she loathes Homestuck and I... well, even a complete lack of talent can't stop my churning out fanart.

I just wonder, how can they not enjoy it? Is there something they're just overlooking?

Ask her?

The only people I know who don't like Homestuck have never read it and just hate me talking about it. :p

I just hope China doesn't collapse before they try for world conquest.

Hell, they might have a massive BB score by the end of it, but at least they'll survive awhile longer.

« on: May 26, 2011, 06:22:48 pm »
So, I'm making a DVD for a friend and I need free and immensely easy to use video editting software to chop up a movie and put together the scariest bits whilst still making it start off convincingly as a "blooper real" from Supernatural.

Any suggestions, ladies and gents?

Everyone hates Ultramarines.

Hell, game plot idea for Blood Angels: You're a member of a Death Company. As you fight over the next few days, you keep getting flashbacks, hallucinations, etc. The final boss is a fight between you and a Chaos Lord (or Daemon or whatever you want) and Sanguinis (who you're playing as) and Horus which keeps switching between them.

Voila, done.

With the game mechanics they're going for, wouldn't Blood Angels have been a better choice for chapter?

Game mechanics AND game looks? That much blood just shouts "Blood Angels".

Really, "make her feel like shit" just sounds to me the absolute worst advice.  You've probably already done that.

You've... Never debated with someone, have you?
