Play With Your Buddies / Re: The Show off your Empires Thread

I'm currently playing EU3 Complete MMP so I can convert my save to Vicky Revolutions. Should be fun. :p

I'm playing as Ashikaga. It's barely been 30 years and I've managed to unite a good deal of Japan. I'm hoping to unite the rest soon, but the other clans are causing me trouble. It's mainly the stability hits and bad boy issues that're annoying me.

On the topic of running away: See Resident Evil 2. You KNEW you could kill Tyrant at certain points in the game (well, knock him down) and every time you did, you'd get an amazing item / piece of an amazing item.

But was it really worth wasting herbs / ammo doing it? It was entirely your choice, and a lot of players just ran away instead of doing it.

Why don't more games do this?

Life Advice / Re: Petition in US High School

If you get into a debate with the biology teacher, make her feel like shit. My suggestions are to target her reasons for wanting dissections ("Do you like them or something, Miss X? Why do you want them to happen?"), question their usefulness ("We're having animals killed for us to cut up and for what? So we can get a few grades? This is WRONG, people. There is no gain in this.") and make them sound far more barbaric than they really are.

Don't do posters or any of that crap (you can, but you MUST claim they're not you if you put them up, say they're from an over eager signer or something) but make a Facebook (or whatever) group asking people to sign.

You want to keep it low key, use ad hominem attacks if teachers question you ("Do you hate DEMOCRACY, Miss? Do you hate FREEDOM?") and try to make it seem like you're not trying to cause a fuss. She probably wants you to force your hand in such a way to be able to stop you from doing it completely.

That's pretty much everything.

For example, just because Avatar has an almost half billion dollars invested, doesn't mean it's a better movie than Moon, which had a (comparatively) small budget of 5 million. I still am not tired of Moon (might watch it again this weekend, get some friends into it) and got tired of Avatar after watching it twice.

I just read the plot of that movie and there's a novella I've read with the exact same plot.

No credits or anything? Weird.

Try Distant Worlds. It's a real time 4x. It has some issues but eh.

This woman needs to never have a job as a journalist / reviewer again.
AKA: "She criticised a show I like! Jihad! Jihad!"  ::)

You did read it, right? I wouldn't've minded if she'd criticised the sex scenes detracting from the plot or some crap like that, but she was just like, "LOL THE ENTIRE GENRE OF FANTASY IS BELOW ME LET ME TAKE A MASSIVE SHIT ON IT." (I'm sure you'd know about that, being Chairman Poo and all. :p)

It's like when Yahtzee used to bitch about playing games on the Wii. It wasn't funny, the jokes were never clever and he's got significantly better since he's stopped talking about it. It was an irrelevant side topic to the conversation at hand.

Other Games / Re: Terraria - It's out! And there's a 4 pack

I was thinking maybe a sort of deathball kind of game. There is a chest with an obsidian skull in in the middle of the map. 3 players per team and two referees (referees aren't PvP enabled). Players have to stop and throw the skull every time they get it (maybe allow SOME running?) until they get it to their base.

Etc etc.

I could do a quick design on bases.

I think it should go like this:

People discuss what kind of map they want, maybe do some ghetto sketches. 4 to 8 people join a map as the same team. They bring resources from their worlds with them, and build the world leaving as much of it undisturbed as they can. Then they save out the map and post the file for the actual PvP world.

Pretty much this. Make sure to back up the world etc, too.

To be honest, I think WE should construct a battlefield on a small map. Make a CTF style map. It's destructible etc, but it starts both teams off on equal footing.

It's normally quite a bit more nuanced, but it's entirely possible to engage in a war of cleansing in Alpha Centauri, as well as some of the Civ games.

When you start using nukes in Alpha Centauri, there's not really much of a point in stopping using nukes because the civs start to hate you.

Distant Worlds allows world destruction, as does GalCivII (I think, anyway).

It's okay to be Takei!

Go play World of Warcraft on an RP server.

Go to Silvermoon City.

NEVER DO ANYTHING THESE PEOPLE DO.

Now your troubles are solved.

THIS MUST BE HELL

Oh, no.

Another day in England.

I wish the Rapture would come and take away all the fucking nutty Christians who claim the world is going to end every few days. Because less fanatic Christians aren't "true Christians", they'd still be left here.

I think there'd be more people on Earth than in Heaven. It's wonderful.

It's not really open ended enough for the question though
Sorry. It had to be done

It kinda is. Maybe I should have called the thread "goalless games".
