Life Advice / Re: Women Troubles

<snip>

Errrrr....

I think this is very much borderline misogynism and I think you're talking about the really crazy women.

Women are very simple creatures (maybe not as simple as men, you're right there, but they're hardly an eldritch labyrinth of cataclysmic proportions), they usually want attention, affection and the some of the same things men want. ;p (Oh, they also want to feel like they're the center of your world.) Trust me, overcomplicating women (people as a whole, in fact) is the worst thing you can do. Make people simple and the world usually acts simpler.

You're talking about the crazies (who are usually not the sharpest tools in the shed, either) who have "issues". "Issues" give way to more "issues" until you have the fortress you described.

I knew what I could do in this situation, but I was hoping for better advice. :( Now the girlfriend's suggesting something really weird and it's just like: "What am I even going to do?" Blurgh.

I didn't spend more than 30 mins with it. Combat is you sailing circles around your opponent trying to get your broadside facing them so most of your cannons hit on target. There's a big map with lots of ships and cities moving around, you return to port to sell loot and good and repair your ship, yadda yadda. It's probably fun in the short term, but I felt kind of underwhelmed by what the game offered, especially considering who made it.

You felt underwhelmed with conquering the Carribean for your faction?

She's an 18-year-old girl.

Seems normal to me.

Give her a few years to grow up.

If you like DOOM: DooMRoguelike.

Cave Story.

If you've got any Source games (and if you haven't... Just go out and buy Orange Box ffs), download a bunch of Source mods. I can tell you some decent ones if you like.

The 20 seconds with the turbine is just giving you time to hit B to build a vessel and get stuff squared away to save them. protip: hitting B stops time.

Not just that. Stuff like the cargo sinking etc.

It's not rushing you, there's sandbox and really it's not that much of a rush, it's just a bit faster than normal, mostly because it requires you to actually think about how to do something instead of "LOLOLOL PUSH THIS OBVIOUS BUTTON DATS MARKED IN GLOWING EXTREME GPS MAP MODE BECAUSE YOU ARE CLEARLY BLIND AND CANNOT SEE THIS OBVIOUSLY LARGE OBJECTIVE!" so it feels rushed when it's actually not.

Nah, I mean the fact that events (at least at the start) are timed. You have to do them within a certain time limit, or you fail.

Why don't you "acquire" the rest of the breeds?

Not bloody likely. The whole "new Islamic Caliphate" thing is a bunch of right-wing fearmongering by guys whose knowledge of that part of the world comes from watching episodes of 24.

True. It'd be awesome if they did, though. Sadly Islam is shattered by so much disagreement over the teachings of Mohammed.

Sorry, guys, I'm really busy this weekend. This probably won't get updated 'til Monday, if then. It was my girlfriend's brothers birthday yesterday, my Dad's birthday today and my girlfriend's Dad's birthday tomorrow. :p It's crazy!

Trenches need to be built like WW1 trenches in order to be really effective.

Code: [Select]
_#
##_____#
##_____#
##____##
########

# = Block
_ = Empty space
-> is facing towards your enemy's main side. You need to build a step at the front in order to jump up on and be able to shoot at your enemy, it also allows you to jump down and reload without being shot. The little fortification thing at the back is just to force enemies to get right up to the edge in order to shoot you. The lack of steps at the back (although you can build steps, just don't make them a regular part of the fortification, put them at irregular intervals) is to stop the enemy from turning the trench against you if they capture it. They'll still be able to, but it'll be harder for them as they have to dig out a bunch of blocks, build a bunch etc.

Comments?

Well, I managed to convince both of them to go out for a drink, although the friend is supposedly straight edge and my girlfriend is crazily friendly whilst drunk, so we'll see how this all turns out.

Anyone here from around the Liverpool area and fancies going out for a booze up? :p
