The problem with saying that not being trans is the default state of being is that most trans people feel they were born as the wrong sex/assigned the wrong gender, in the same way most gay people feel they were born attracted to the opposite sex.  Thus saying there should be no word for cis is equivalent to saying there should be no word for brown hair (or whatever the local most common hair is).  Both are the norm but you don't default to being cis any more than you default to being a brunette.

I think the thread needs an emergency dosage of Timecube!

I feel like I'm reading a conspiracy theory from an alternate universe.  An alternate universe where people have very different ideas about grammar.  BELLYBUTTON LOGIC WORKS

From a word definition standpoint, sex is the physical aspects, gender is the mental aspects.

I guess my issue here is that you can be transgender without being transexual so there's a purpose in specifying there.  But you can't be cisgendered without also being cissexual.  I think.  And if you're cissexual without being cisgendered, the term transgender already describes you.  So neither the term cisgendered or cissexual is necassary, cis means the same thing while being shorter and less needlessly specific.

Cisgendered means that you identify as the gender you where born as.

Ok, devils advocate but if you use the formal meanings of "sex" and "gender" (which you probably are if you're using the word "cis") then gender is learned/constructed and you aren't born as a gender.  So there shouldn't be a need to add "gendered" on the end of the word.

Feminist: Because she's a woman, and she's on Tumblr.
Someone needs to sig this.

The label 'feminist' does not describe very much. I could mean people who are fighting for women to be equal to men (despite the fact that they basically already are), people who think that women are better than men, or people who think that women and men should be segregated.

It describes a specific intellectual and political movement.  There's a reason people can say things like "second wave feminism".  There is a history behind the thing, it isn't just a label people have arbitrarily given themselves as you seem to be implying.  It may be that for Tumblr crazies (I don't have a Tumblr account, so I wouldn't know) but they don't speak for feminists as a whole.  Personally I think this author's blog post explains it better than I can.

Look at all those labels. S: Cisgendered? Demiplatonic? Aromantic? Panwhut? >_>
The 'about' is 75% labels...

Also, the phrase 'check your privilege' says nothing and a lot o things at once. S: It apparently originated from a nice intellectual essay some years ago, but eh.

While I can't speak to the first two, Aromantic and Pansexual are legitimate and useful labels.

Aromantic is to romance what asexual is to sex.  Its generally considered a subcategory of asexual, but since aromantics can still want sex they obviously aren't going to describe themselves as asexual because that's a very good way not to get laid.

Pansexual is an orientation in the same sense that bisexual is, except that pansexuals are attracted to people of ambiguous gender.  So a bisexual would be attracted to men and women but not the androgenous or ambigious.  Whereas pansexuals could go for any of those categories.

Just because some people abuse a word doesn't mean that word has no meaning :D

The anticipation for this release is really starting to build up with me; I'm pretty excited about the combat changes and the new site types, among other things. Hm, I wonder if it'll be possible to climb goblin towers somehow...?

If I'm interpreting the new changes correctly, you can climb constructed walls but not smoothed natural walls. Since any above-ground structure has to used constructed walls (unless it uses obsidian), you should be able to literally climb the side of a goblin tower.

Or just climb the stairs, killing all in your path.

I for one primarily play adventure mode and am happy it's getting some love.

Also, part of the reason the adventure mode forums are so inactive is because there's nothing left to say.  Adventure mode basically has four things to talk about: questing for kills/loot, fighting random innocents for no reason, modding/hacking the game, and random silliness like throwing bugs at people or glacier glitches.  Most of these things have been discussed to death.

Weird auto-targeting that isn't controlled by the player

I've noticed this mostly in 3D beat-em-up style games, like The Matrix: Path of Neo (I'm sure it happens in good games, that's just the most immediate example I can think of). When you push your thumbstick in the direction of an enemy and press the attack button, you'd expect to attack in that direction, right? Wrong, according to some games: you should be sailing through the air in completely the opposite direction at a piece of destructible scenery.

Witcher 2: there are three enemies in front of you.  The one in the middle is too far away to hit.  You attack one of the two in front... and Geralt swings his sword through the empty air between them, because he auto-targeted the middle one.  *facepalm*

In my experience with prepared invasions, which is literally one of them, you get something in the area of 3000 troops if you wait most of the 2 years you have.

Do you guys think it would be worth it to get Hearts of Iron 3?  How does it compare to CK 2?

Which is a better weapon for an adventurer, an artifact iron mace or masterwork adamantine battleaxe?

I'm also wondering: how beatable are demons by vampire adventurers? Can't decide if I should breach HFS or not. Can demons be raised by necromancers?
Short answer: whichever one your character is more skilled at.

Long answer: Maces suck at doing damage compared to battleaxe, however artifact gets a better to-hit modifier than masterwork.  Adamantine is great for edged weapons, making it perfect for battleaxes.  Assuming equal skills, I'd say the battleaxe is better, as even though it will hit less often it'll do WAY more damage.

Ok... so right now, my heir is going to inherit both Norway and Denmark.  The problem is, my wife inherited Denmark before our son did, and she is currently the subject of a massive rebellion to press someone's claim on Denmark.

The thing is... I can't join the war.  Never mind that it has everything to do with me, and it involves my WIFE, the game doesn't even show the option for me to to offer to join her wars.  I didn't receive a call to arms.  I'm so incredibly mad right now.  Why is this happening and what can I do besides savescum assassinating her?

One thing that I've found is that the AI has a tendency to keep going with depleted armies even if their levies refill.  AKA if they were to dismiss their armies and raise them again, they'd get a whole new army, but instead they stick with their half-dead one.  So in a long war continually drawing up new levies and throwing them into battle can be more effective then it really should be, especially if you don't focus on completely killing enemy armies.  This assumes that your forces are roughly equivalent of course, not going to help against a doomstack.

I've never used retinues.  Part of that is that I played most of my games before the expansion came out, but the other reason is that once I reach a certain size realm I find that I no longer get into wars with anyone who has a hope of winning.  Including my vassals, because I typically have most of my vassals as single counts with the occasional duke.  So early I can't get significant amounts of retinues, late I don't need them.

CoD IS my pet peeve.  My friends have gotten me to play it and I just... can't stand it.

I think I what I really despise about it is that it presents itself as all military and throws around "authentic" military jargon and plays on the whole "I wanna be a soldier boy" mentality, yet is completely unrealistic down to its very bones.  Technology is essentially magic that does whatever the game designers want it to (why does an anti-bomb suit block bullets?  why do claymores detonate via visible lasers?  Why can't allies trigger mines?), guns have BOTH a range and accuracy stat despite the fact that a SHOTGUN would be effective at all but the longest ranges CoD offers, recoil is bizarre (you can fire an enormous semiautomatic sniper rifle repeatedly and accurately while standing up, but if you try to spray and pray a machinegun at someone who is within spitting distance the bullets will jump away at 45 degree angles from the barrel).  The spawning mechanics and arena level design define the game more than any actual tactics.

It just feels so pretentious.  I think the reason it bothers me is because there are a lot of people who take the game dead serious and don't acknowledge how silly it is.

(most of the above was based on Modern Warfare 2 BTW)

You get abduction penalty on top of the heathen penalty.

-86 Opinion of liege if I remember correctly.  So yeah.  Assigning her as spymaster was probably the second worst decision I have ever seen the AI make, ignoring the basic level incompetence at leading armies and such.

So, there have been a series of tragic accidents in the Kingdom of Denmark, killing everyone in line for the throne up to his third daughter, the Queen of Norway.  Which meant that since the King died, and his infant son born at the last minute was mysteriously smothered in his sleep, the Kingdom of Denmark is set to be inherited by the young Prince of Norway.

As it turns out, if you abduct a woman and force her to become your concubine, and you are also a terrible and unattractive husband, you should not make said woman your spymaster.
