To the helm remark:

"The bogeyman kicks you in the head, fracturing the skull, jamming the skull through the brain and tearing the brain through the *Steel Helm* You have been struck down!"

These or words to this effect will typically appear on your screen after you have just slain 4 of the 5 Bogeymen and the 5th one is bleeding everywhere and has thrown up half his own guts.

On topic: How science must science be? I'm particularly interested in agri-science and I think I could dig up a lot of crap on that. Egg-production, milking and stuff.

The /s mean there is more than one unit occupying a space. Are they idle? Are they in a burrow? Did you somehow lock them into a room or something?

On the note of workshops, I thought it was confirmed (damn you wiki and your "valid citations") that workshops didn't make sound only constructions and mining did?

Sounds to me then it's something to do with your hardware, probably where that particular copy of DF is stored.

it was reproducible on someone else's machine.

I couldn't find a post showing that. Although it is early morning here so I am possibly just vair tired.

That sounds very likely. My miners collapsed the roof of a large area for Obsidian making purposes and I'm certain the area contained Tetrahedrite amongst a whole bundle of other things. Now that I think of it this is also the first "Outside" square in my hallway so that would explain it very nicely. Any idea if I can use it? :P

I have changed reactions in the smelter_reactions file but that's it. There's no steam nearby, that is silt loam and basalt cave floors.

There is magma nearby and it has been getting taken up to my magma smelters on the volcano however it doesn't seem to be burning anybody who is nearby.

Edit: Okay, dwarves CAN walk over it but they try to avoid it... If there's traffic coming they will walk straight through if not they will invariably walk around it.

I've suddenly found a pile of tetrahedrite sitting in the middle of my walkway. It appears to be blocking everyone from walking through the square. What is it? I thought only mud piled up?
