Why...why did someone do that? I was fine before. But you have (assuming that was done by you) just given a lot more rule 34 fodder, right in this thread.
Not to be incredibly late, but after re-reading some of the pages I actually understood what you meant. 1) It wasn't made by me and 2) I wasn't trying to add rule 34 fodder.

So here I am, the contents of the "Epic" folder from the 26k pony images.
Gotta warn you, creepy images ahoy, view at your own risk. Seriously, like, nightmare fuel. And a... Terrifying rendition of Fluttershy.

Oh look, a duplicate. Silly person whoever put together the 26k images.

Yeah, I have no idea how they make the pens battery-free.
Electromagnetic fields, mostly. Using some oscillating to detect position and ... actually I have no idea. Here's some nerd text instead:

So wait, is this the construction update or just the minor stuff Whales made for now?

Well, Wacom's tablets are special because of some patented thingy, so they don't need batteries in pens. And that's really important.

Anyway, Intuos 4 Medium here, and I can say these are really good if you have the money. Big enough to comfortably work, but small enough so you don't need to move your hand too much.

And don't forget about proper software. There are many image editing programs, but few can handle the functions of tablets.

I use Paint Tool SAI and is what I'd reccomend to anyone. Works really well with Wacoms and was pretty much designed for tablets anyways.

We could make it crawl in intervals, so like every 2nd hour it crawls 10 subdomains or something..
Best way would be to do it on request, with the more popular sites done automatically. With that, unless you have really a lot of people playing, it shouldn't need a limit.

So, has anybody actually figured out how would the game work? (from the playing perspective, not the webcrawling one.) There were some discussions, but no conclusions, IIRC.

1.0.6 update? 1.0.6 update.

Steam just updated my Terraria. I'm guessing this is it.

EDIT: Just checked, and the new hotkeys are in. This is it.
Couldn't you have just checked the version number on the title screen?  :P

Besides, those hotkeys were in 1.0.5.
Didn't even notice the version number. Especially with 1600x900 fullscreen, which makes small text.

And huh, how about that. It shows I haven't played this in a while.

When this gets done, I'm taking over the Poopcrawler's GoogleCode page. :P

Seriously guys, how long is your longest game yet?
In my best game yet i managed to survive almost two days
A week or so. Then I got bored and sacrificed him to the Resonance Cascade. (And even that didn't kill him, so I had to jump in a Dissector a few times to finally retire him.)

I'd guess I could stay alive indefinately, though.

Just because I didn't see anyone else mention it during my very quick skim over the thread...robots.txt.  There's also some meta tags.  And one or two other protocols designed to restrict robots.  Mind these don't do anything on their own.  These are just the rules set out by the webmaster and it's up to the robot to follow those rules.  Don't and you'll get blacklisted.  For example, the B12 robots.txt completely blocks most bots from touching the forums.  The Wikipedia robots.txt blocks robots from touching dynamically generated pages and also includes a spider trap.  Spider traps are devious little designs used to f**** robots that don't parse the robots.txt file.

I didn't pay that close attention, but it looks like you guys were at least partially serious about making this game.  If so, pay attention to restriction protocol or you'll find the game end badly when your bots get blacklisted.

Fuck.. didnt think about this one? But how does wikipedia quest THEN work?
Maybe we could make a bot browser, so it looks like a human browsing..

Wikipedia only disallows crawling of the special pages. All the articles are fair game.
So Wikipedia Quest could still crawl the regular pages.

So basically it just prevents the bots from looking at pages like Special:Administrators and such.
There's an easibly readable list in every robots.txt, so you can see what each site disallows.

I dunno, I killed them pretty easy using that rock on a chain. As long as you do it right, it shouldn't harm you one bit, even if they explode.

Do it right.  Sound advice if I ever heard any.

Yeah, I was pretty vague. What I meant was at full distance and with as much of a blow as you can give.
The easiest way to do it is with the overpass maneuvre, where you don't actually spin your weapon but simply guide it.

Do tell me if you need even better instructions. :P

Hmm, I must have somehow missed most of these modder/dev type people.  Care to list a few projects that are worth checking out?

I'm more than happy to throw a few bucks at anyone whos work gives me enjoyment.
Prospector, Cataclysm, Towns ... there were more but I forgot. :(

Que le cheval vive en moi (lol french), or in other words, let's inject ourselves with horse blood in order to become a pony.
