Walkthrough, okay:

1. Go into your Dwarf Fortress folder.
2. Go into the "data" folder within the Dwarf Fortress folder.
3. Go into the "init" folder within the data folder.
4. Double click the "init.txt" within the init folder.
5. Search "FPS"
6. Set FPS to a higher limit by changing the number under "FPS_CAP" to something higher than 100.

How exactly did you manage to capture the forgotten beast?
By the looks of it, it appears to involve a bridge to trap them after they try to kill the nearest pathable creature, I.E, a bait puppy.

Since the bridge is controlled by a lever...

I've made 5 adventurers in a row with my troll mod..

In this mod, there are two weapons-grade metals: sharp and heavy. Sharp is ~steel, maybe a bit sharper. Heavy is as good for blunt as silver.

I've gotten the following weapons after Character creation:

Heavymetal two-handed sword
Heavymetal Great Axe
Heavymetal Battle Axe
Sharpmetal Whip
Sharpmetal Whip

Now, these are literally ALL the worst choices possible for the situation. It could be a coincidence, but...

I just stated a troll fort. So, trolls need the honk birds to get metals and stone? I'm sure that will cause a very different playing style. I think building everything aboveground is a nice change, though. I'll just need to remember to gen worlds with more above-ground z-levels.

How good are the four metals, compared to the vanilla metals? And is armormetal supposed to be so cheap? On embark, it's only 10 points.

You don't need to remove the civ_controllable tag from dwarves to play as trolls. While embarking, if you go to the "Your Civilization" screen, you can switch between Dwarven and Trollian civs.

About that last part: I know, I just think the honk-birds are a bit OP if you can also mine, considering the effectiveness of the metals.

And that brings us to the second part.

Sharpmetal is a bit better than steel in sharpness.
Heavymetal is equal to silver.
Shinymetal is basically purple gold.
Armormetal is as good as steel when used as armor.

This basically makes the metals the most effective in their given category (other than bluemetal) available. However, they are extremely time-consuming to make (or FPS consuming, if you want a huge amount of honk-birds).

I'm going to include balance changes after feedback. No, armormetal should not be that cheap. I'll fix that. Also, I should make a "cheapmetal": equal to copper, but you can make pretty much anything with it. Mainly for embark purposes, of course. After all, you don't really want your starting axes costing 1260 embark points each.

If they do, it's not noticeable. But try not to use them: if you upload an image to this site, only somebody who uses that tileset will know immediately what they're looking at. Everybody knows that & means the shit is about to hit the fan.

I would not agree with you, as I have no idea what a red ampersand is, as ive been playing with a gfx pack from day 1, im sure im not alone in this.

I think you may be >_>

There's only one thing an ampersand represents, and let's just say that it's almost always Fun.

Bump for major release:

0.8 is out. In it, trolls are fully playable. Workshops that only work on certain trolls to come.

This world crashes whenever I attempt to play adv. in ~the bottom 2/3 of the map or I attempt to move my embark cursor. I'm posting the link to see if anyone else has a similar problem.

More importantly, though, my noble problem still stands. On embark, I have a duke, a count, a baron, AND an expedition leader. The duke, baron and count all act as they should, mandating, etc., but they're there on embark.

So what's the problem?

Don't think so, but I should note that ALLOWED_CLASS, as well as the GENDER tags, do not currently work quite as intended.

 Alright, that worked, and I'm aware that the ALLOWED_CLASS tags don't work anymore, I'm just including them in case they will later.

Also, how would I implement the butcher_special tag? It seems complex >_>

Alright, it took a second, but I see what you're saying.

Most of what you said is planned for future release. The next release will be mostly about adventurer mode, and it should help. When DF is finished, it should be better than ADOM, or pretty much any rogue-like for that matter. The suggestion about the game going live and clicking on a button to go into step mode was actually in the prequel, Slaves to Armok: God of Blood.
