I am working on dynamic text sizes, that is absolutely something I want to keep in mind. If nothing else, I want to make the UI easy to modify into something resembling localization, even if we don't have proper stuff.

It's DEFAULT_SITE_TYPE:DARK_FORTRESS, any other civ that has that will do the same

This isn't replicating on my end; do you have a crash log?

A mod updated erroneously in a way that breaks saves. You should be able to fix it by just adding a sound definition with that name to one of the loaded mods.

Toady One: "Same goes for translation/localization if we can ever figure that out."

Why don't you make a toolkit for translators?

This is precisely what is meant here by "if we ever figure that out", unfortunately. Making the toolkit's the hard part.

you forgot [SELECT_ENTITY:MOUNTAIN] before your permitted reactions

And I'm telling you that the WORSHIP_HF string is used only in parsing certain conversation texts, not anywhere in position systems. You can't do anything with it in raws besides use it in TEXT_SET objects.

It is the function itself that causes the performance issue, not the toggleability.

The one exception to this rule is that [POSITION:WORSHIP_HF] (dark tower master, inherited or created by clowns at w.g/rising from the deep) and [POSITION:MONARCH] can exist both at the same time, where the monarch is precedence 1, but still subservient to the master.

The argument to POSITION is completely and totally arbitrary and has no effect on the game whatsoever. WORSHIP_HF is only used in parsing text. If multiple positions have precedence 1, it'll just use the first one, generally. There are no exceptions to what I said, which is taken directly from the game's code.

The game just assumes that anything with [PRECEDENCE:1] is the ruler, for both embark screen and mountainhome purposes

When creating an Entity's landholder positions, do the trigger tokens still function or are they completely removed?

Also, can a site in worldgen have both a Tier 1 landholder AND a Tier 2, or must they always replace? For instance, I was trying to make a civ that has elected T1s at every site, and then the appointed T2s are replaced by appointed T3s. However I've never actually seen anything above T1 unless I add the replaced_by token. Is that just the way it works or am I unlucky?

Trigger tokens are now 1-9 instead of specific values and the values that correspond to each of those tiers is adjustable in the difficulty settings

You don't decipher them, you just post them. Thank you for posting it.

EDIT: Please post the save too.

Post the crashlog (crashlogs folder), if you have one?

I graduated! I now have an associate's degree in actuarial science, which I will proceed to not-use because I realized that I like the computing sciences more than the science of putting a price on human life. I'm planning on taking a Bachelor's in CS or related, anyway.

Anyway, I actually came here because there's now a Linux version of Dwarf Fortress. I'm happy about that because it's probably gonna be less crash-happy than playing the Windows version through Wine, *shudder*.

For the 0 people in the audience using NixOS + nix-alien to run foreign binaries, run the dwarfort binary with the following to get a working DF with audio (seems to be an either/or matter: one of fmod or sdl_mixer need to exist to have working audio) to tide you over until 50.10 gets packaged in nixpkgs.

Code: [Select]
nix-alien -l libSDL2_mixer-2.0.so.0 -r ./dwarfort

Yeah, we don't have a fallback besides sdl_mixer. I might look into yet more, the system is very much built to accomodate as many as one wants--in fact, you can technically compile your own libsdl_mixer_plugin.so that uses the same API (which is all public on g_src) to write your own, or I guess people could contribute glue code to g_src that'll work, or whatever. Not that I expect people to, I'm the one being paid for all this, ha. But yeah, constant work to make it more and more compatible.
