Does anyone know if Toady has implemented wind power yet.  I know that it was suppose to be in another, older version, but wasn't or something.  Just wondering if anyone knows about wind power.

Does anyone know the process to make steel the new version.  I think I need a flux like limestone, but I have borax which is a commonly used flux in our world so.......idk.

It means you need coke or charcoal.  The stock of what you have may be highlighted to be put in a stockpile.  Use t to check the woodburner and smelter to make sure you have some.

Are the days of 3+ wide hallways with doors to separate them into segments fubar?  since the release of the new version I have yet to be able to put 3 doors next to each other.

Right now I'm in the process of cleansing the defiled land.  After that I will destroy the horrid fortress and rebuild a a shining hold from the obsidian that once comprised the buildings.

Has anyone besides me attacked a goblin fortress in .38c and win.(I now have an excess of wealth thanks to all the clothes left from the corpses.) I used 9Marksdwarfs and 1 Axedwarf to do it.  I was surprised that 6 proficient marksdwarfs could take a whole goblin fortress.  But hey, it worked.

If anyone else has done this I would like to know how you did it and what you did after the place was cleared.

I will prolly try the water wheel chain to power it.

I'll keep updating the thread.  I'm running at 134 fps on a standard map with 34 z-levels, so the updates should be rolling in shortly.

I recently decided to make my next fort high in the mountains, but there's one hitch.  I have no water on my plateau.  There is a river down about 20 z-levels or so.  My current plan is to use screw pumps to move the water from river up into a holding tanks to be used later for my farms.  My real conundrum is how to power the darn things.  I've tried using Windmills and Waterwheels in previous forts with no luck.

What do you think is the best way to move the water up 20 levels without using dwarfs to power the pumps?

Do you have an engineering guild yet?

When I have nothing left to do and have lots of resources I set a few, usually 6, dwarfs to make me many masterwork catapults.

Also an Arena would be a good addition if you don't have one yet.
