Humans can be pretty dwarvishly sometimes. They ride war cheetahs into battle. WAR CHEETAHS.

Lock thread.

I never even make meals, I just let them eat raw food. Why should I cook it first? Any real reasons?

Because gnawing on raw plants and mushrooms isn't dwarfy, it is elven.

platinum armour is, due to it's weakness and flexiblitity, SHITE!

give it to the captain of the guard, just to slow him down so he can't reach urist mcfailedmandate.

So he'll train strenght? Rather not.

In case of famine,
IIRC lavish meals take 3 ingredients, but are created in an equal stack of meals, which don't vary in nutritional value.

...speaking of famine, when you have beehives, will dorfs eat them when hunting vermin?

No. It's 2, 3 or 4 stacks that go in, but out comes a stack the size of everthing that went in.
Only real reason is slightly more XP, otherwise the lavish meals are clearly superior.

Platinum shield = best. Platinum gauntlet = probably crap.

1: Yes, its normal.
2: Via route 1, through the addy.
3: 1+2 will take care of those 45 haulers along with the rest of the fort just fine.

While that ordering is correct, it's very incomplete. Silver >= Steel > Bronze > Iron > Copper > Wood == Bone, iirc.
Silver's heavier, but Arena mode confirms that Steel wins against it.

Wait, wait....best hammer material is silver (blunt) and best shield material is copper (blunt, no silver) - seemed to be confirmed by most resident dwarves here. so now for crossbows (blunt) steel beats above mentioned metals?

Not saying that it's impossible and there may be perfectly dwarfy and valid explanation why the steel would win out. However it APPEARS to be a fluke...
Game isn't modded. Results of all unarmored female dwarves with ammoless crossbows noskill.

Test 1 (6v6): Steel wins with 4 remaining
Test 2 (7v7): Steel wins with 6 remaining
Test 3 (1v1): Steel wins

These tests are preety convincing to me. I can do more tests if you want.

Not doubting you - just surprised. Well, steel it is.

Low quality of foreign weapons is annoying...

In reality you can also simply add MORE metal if your hammer isn't heavy enough. You can use a platinum hammer, but you can also use a steel one of the same weight, which still would be harder.

I'd wish a hammer had a "fixed weight" so the best material would still be good, hard steel - not glittery platinum. Though bashing someone with valuable metals sounds nice.

Blinding your loyal citizens brutally just because the sighted variety runs away from goblins. I approve.

All food has to be cooked or it can make your dwarves sick.

Good advice. Uncooked food = lower quality = unhappier dwarves. The "boozecook"- trap needs to be avoided, but as chicken eggs are easy food it probably will, even for noobs.
