Stray cave croc
You just got" Boatmurdered".
Animal A is tamed but somehow kills an allied dwarf.
Animal A is now considered hostile, but still considered "friendly".
Anyone who attacks Animal A is placed into the same category.
In older versions dwarves wouldn't even run from these animals, this is why the "elephants" were so horrible in Boatmurdered. I short, loyalty cascade.

Added a poll to ease tallying.

I had some cave crocs caged and tamed from prior goblin attacks and figured I would use them for egg production and maybe breeding.  I made a pen/training area and put a next box and some ropes in it.  One of the crocs killed it's handler in the transfer and went on a killing spree, body parts everywhere.  No problem, I thought, I'll just send my 10 legendary, candied military.  As they start to engage the croc, a passing marksdwarf starts taking shots at the croc as well, but they put a bolt in the kidney of the Captain of the Guard....

That squad, all legendary, all candy equipment, began killing every dwarf in site.  I'm waiting for the carnage to wind down and I'm going to give Adventure mode a try and see what I might find at the abandoned fort.

I've been playing for several months and this is first I've seen or heard of this happening.  Was this like a rebellion or something?
Sounds like a loyalty cascade, but I didn't know friendly fire existed in DF outside of breath attacks.
A loyalty cascade is when a dwarf kills a dwarf of the same civ , marking it as an enemy of the state while still being a member of the state. Militia dwarf kills the 2nd Dwarf and a cycle of death will continue ad infinitum till everyone is dead.

Boy
Paper
Rock

In order.
You're Paper! It sounds like a proud and proper name, and you have a wonderful feeling that its a perfect counter to your rival, Rock.
The sun is rising and you step out of your humble cave.
Yo Paper, what took you so long? Forgot you're name again?
Before you can think of a snappy comeback, Rock interrupts you.
Hey listen, you're the only person I know, and if you can't tell we're both men. I know we might be young now, but I have a sinking feeling we won't last forever.
You have no idea what Rock is going on about.
I think it might be a good idea to find some other people like us and form a group. Lead by me of course.
We can't have that! But you just can't say you're the leader. You have to think of some sort of contest to challenge Rock for leadership of the currently nonexistent group.
You hear a shrill cry as something flies overhead. What do you see?
Spoiler: Some huge bird thing (click to show/hide)

Who are we, the players, in this scenario?
You will be playing as a human in the first act. After that you will be playing as a "collective" human civilization. By the time humans arrive the first ones are pretty much gone. The "monsters"
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
are the 2/3s of the first ones that changed forms/got crushed by the "Giant"
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

An without further interruption, your forum game.
Stone Age Act I
The Glowing Orb rises as light floods into your cave, you raise yourself from the stonefloor of your cave. You feel..inquisitive today. Your mind is buldging with questions like: What does inquisitive mean? You ponder the question, but your head starts hurting. Perhaps you should start small by answering a few questions.
Are you a boy or a girl?
What should you call yourself
What does the fucker whose been living in the cave next to you call himself?
Your so excited! A world of possibilities await!

A long time ago, before the age of peace, before the dire hours of brutal warfare, before  men even knew about the fantastic creatures:
There was the vast nothingness of the universe. A vortex churned and chortled for many years.
Then came an egg, and in that egg: creation.
With 1000 arms the beast shaped Space
With 1000 arms the beast shaped Time
With 1000 arms the beast shaped Distortion.
The sons of the beast created the world.
The sons of the beasts created  emotions to feel, knowledge to seek,  power to process. Not just for Man, but for all of the beings on Earth.
While the world was still young, and the beasts still slaved, three more Great Beasts appeared.
One was born of churning sea.
One was born of stout land.
And the last was born of the sky.
The son of the Sea set forth to spread the oceans, the son of land set forth to spread land, and the son of sky simply protected his mother, like all good sons do. The beast of 1000 arms was so impressed by the Son of sky's loyalty, he erected a pillar where the Son of the sky could rest briefly.
The son of the Sea met the Son of the Land, and the two struggled for supremacy. The son of the sky took pity on the two, and broke up the battle. The Son of land took refuge in its mothers womb. The Son of the Sea took refuge in its mother's womb. And they still sleep there to this day.
They world was soon inhabited, by the first ones. The Beast of 1000 arms blessed the first with the gift of shape-shifting. They flourished and enjoyed making mischief, and the Giant was a particularly fun victim.
Eventually the giant got fed up, and crushed one third of the first ones. The first ones did not die, but became the Formless. Simple creatures that could only morph into what they see. The giant then pulled apart the land, and created three sons before going to sleep.
His first son refused to go to sleep.
His second son decided to take a nap.
His third son went into a long slumber.
After the lands were split, the seas spread, and the air became calm the Beast of 1000 arms and all of his sons slept, but without the influence of the creator the first ones lost their ability to change their form as they see fit. One third of the first ones were formless, one third of the first ones were stuck in their changed forms, and one third remained the same.
The first ones separated and began to colonize the world.
And so the age of men began...

With that dollar I could buy a can of coke.

... doesn't seem all that impressive to me, you can keep it...
Where I live a can of Coke is about a buck fiddy.

You can already watch tv shows on your computer without Hulu. it just involves streaming in one form or another from either the cable box or the internet. (or the box over the internet).
I know, but that sound like an awful lot of effort. The UI is a bit clunky, but it beats watching shitty Youtube rips of shows.

First of all, Wikiepdia is a pretty safe bet most of the time. People only do outlandish things to the stuff that doesn't really matter.(Vidogames and stuff.) The site is heavily moderated, but this isn't an argument with your teacher.
I just look in the citation sections, go to my local library and get the info from there.
Or just pick some book that pertains to the subject, use Wikipedia, and cite the book you "used" as a source.
I'd recommend the former, it's much more rewarding. Even though the latter is hard to detect barring full on copy and paste.

I'm surprised people actually browse Reddit, at all.
Why do people do this to themselves?

So I decided to try out IVAN.
I went into the dungeon and smacked a few zombies around. Then I found some armor, and an axe.
That's when I started tripping on webs.
Today, I learned: Where there are webs, there are spiders that will pump your torso full of toxins and turn your ass into a human happy meal.
