Well, I got the bundle, and for the first time, actually downloaded and installed GameMaker, got everything set up, and did the first tutorial (to make my first simple game). Holy CRAP this is easy! Here I've been trying to learn to code from scratch for years, and all this time there was this beautiful, wonderful program waiting for me that makes it absurdly easy to make games. I've been such a fool! So now I'll do the rest of the tutorials, then get started on my first game, even if I only work on it a little bit now and then and it takes ages to finish. Excitement!

So you have to pay $99 per year to have your app in the apple store? And there's no other way for iOS users to (legally) get an app? Hmm. I wasn't planning on making anything I would sell, just have a bunch of ideas for little simple games and motivational tools and stuff that I'd like to use. But I know most of the people I know have iPhones (for some reason), so if I made something only for Android, a lot of people wouldn't be able to use it. Man, why do so many people have to use apple? I hate everything about them...

This will require some thought. However, I suppose if I don't get it now and then later decide I'm ready to make this stuff, and I haven't bought this bundle, I will regret it... So I might as well grab it. I'm not exactly rolling in cash, but I'm not so broke that I can't afford something which is hopefully an investment for the future.

EDIT: Question: is that $99 license per game, or is it enough to have one then you can upload as many apps as you want? (I do not know how licenses work, obviously.)

Aw, man... Last time they did this, I got it, including the Android license, which was at the highest pay tier. This time they've added the iOS license, which I really want... But I already have most of this stuff, and so far, I haven't made a single game. I have tons of ideas for little mobile games, and I always say "soon I'll find time to sit down and do that" but I never do.

So now, the question... Do I shell out another $15 (which I know is quite cheap for this, but still, I've already got most of it) and try to force myself to actually make a game for once, or do I just admit that I'm probably never going to find the time to do it and save my money?

Just keep in mind, though, that eating too many eggs will raise your cholesterol. You can definitely have one a day without problems, but if you're eating more than that, you might want to check with your doctor that it's not going to cause you health problems down the road.

Also, eggs stay good for a reasonably long time. You don't need to rush to use them all really quickly. They're definitely good for a few weeks or so if you keep them in the fridge.

Any food-minded people around at the moment? I just went shopping and got some stuff to make some Mexican fried rice, including some chicken to throw in there for an easy, healthy dinner. Unfortunately, I didn't think to buy a lime. I'd like to marinate the chicken for a while before cooking, but any Mexican marinade recipes I can find require lime. Can anyone recommend anything simpler, just to get some basic flavor in the chicken? I don't think I've ever marinated chicken before, so I'm a total noob at this. The rice will have kidney beans, corn, tomato, green beans, onion, garlic, and jalepeno in it. I'm planning on seasoning it with just cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, a little oregano, and salt and pepper. I have some frozen lemon juice but no other citrus. And I'd really prefer not to have to go back out just to buy a single lime (plus they're pretty expensive here). Maybe just marinate it in the spices - cumin, oregano, and pepper? What should I mix it in - olive oil? I'm genuinely clueless here :o

Thanks!

Cook Serve Delicious is a lot of fun. My only problem with ingredients is when they switch the keyboard shortcuts them up on you between food items.
Yeah, I ran into that going from soup to nachos.  I changed rice to I and beans to E (and olives to V?) because that's how they are in soup. That's the only time I've had to remap the keys, though.  P for "place in bowl" is a bit inconvenient but easy to remember.

Also... nachos with rice and olives?  Sounds a bit odd but yummy.

Wait... You can remap the keys? THIS IS A GAME CHANGER.

Indie Game Stand has Cook, Serve, Delicious on special for $1. Super awesome game.
Neat!  Slowbeef and his wife did a funny stream of it.  I'm definitely grabbing it for a dollar.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfJ2-qqYeTE
Seems kinda like Papa's Pizzeria except a lot better.  (Ugh, that series really went downhill)

HA! I'm just watching the first bit of that stream. Why on earth would anyone play that with a controller? Why is it even possible? Hilarious. And it's making me want to play the game again, even though I beat it ages ago and my backlog is atrocious...

The only thing you can make is the brushes. Using the brush on a fossil is supposed to trigger a mini-game, according to the official wiki. The tools are part of the mini-game, and which tools are available to you depends on the type of brush you have.

In any case, I managed to get it working. It looks like somehow I was truly not standing close enough - placing my character directly on top of the fossil then using the brush caused the mini-game to open at last. I succeeded in getting my first fossil (an unidentified torso).

Collecting them is enough for me. Remember, there are several types of gamers. Some are motivated by discovering and collecting new things - I am one of those (a combination of the achiever/explorer types). Once I run out of things to collect/discover, I tend to lose interest in a game. So the more collections are possible, the more I want to play. Not everyone is motivated by combat, efficiency, and things like that. Hence why I got so annoyed when I discovered the erchius mine mission was mandatory before I would be allowed to explore/collect - they forced gamers like me to engage in the type of gameplay we don't like, before we were permitted to engage in the type of gameplay we *do* like (and which Starbound is full of, it's just gated behind that stupid quest).

Stupid question, but fossils are in the background wall. Were you left or right clicking while holding it?

I tried both. Left-clicking gave a brushing animation, right-clicking did nothing. I was standing pretty much on top of it. How long do you have to brush it before it works?

Can anyone explain to me how the fossil brushes work? I've got a brush, and I found a fossil, but using the brush on it does nothing, no matter how long I hold the button down... What am I missing?

Success!!! I hadn't obtained a coil yet, which is why the centrifuge wasn't showing up in the matter assembler. Got one now, got my contaminated water, progress go!

Okay, how do I use a centrifuge? Can I not use the one at the science outpost? There's an "advanced centrifuge" there but when I try to put water or any other liquid in it, nothing happens.

EDIT: Also, how do I make a lab centrifuge? I don't seem to have discovered the recipe and I have no idea what I have to do first.

Gah... Using FU, how do I get the mercury to make the battery to upgrade the forge? I want my durasteel equipment, dammit! But I haven't seen cinnabar anywhere...

I'm pretty sure you can also make batteries at the pre-upgraded forge with Poison, copper wire and gold. I used that a lot more often than the mercury recipe.

Fraid not. I just checked. I did find a recipe for mercury that requires tainted water, though, that might be easier to find than mercury itself... Maybe on a wasteland planet? I'm looking now... I haven't seen any volcanoes. Where are they normally?
