my first test had a usage of 30 (to more easily see the impacts and usage) and no effect lasting longer than the unconsciousness. It was fun. Also scary.

Sidenote: I just realized I have a bit of a problem, how does one set up a interaction to only be used during combat situations that targets friendly units? Is that even possible at the moment? The only usages I know of is the ATTACK, which limits to hostile situations but wont target friendlies, and I've heard that CLEAN_SELF/FRIEND can limit things to out of combat, but not exactly what I'm looking for.

Was just playing around and came up with a fun little spell. Not entirely certain on what balance numbers to plug in yet, but as far as I am aware of impairing the function of eyes appears to not accomplish anything, so that is being used as a control to prevent double targeting. Arena showed that getting hit twice in a row with this was quite fatal.

It seems inconclusive at the moment. I have had a total of two miners get immolated and no bodies (and thus never found), one of them when they came back as a ghost I gained the ability to slab em, the other I did not.

Also posting to keep an eye on you guys. This is mindblowingly amazing, and I have learned an incredible amount from this thread. Though I had wish I had read through this whole thread before trying my experiment to find out usage hint attack makes things not self target heh.

The bit that confuses me is that I can look up their civilizations, they are actively doing things the same year that I stop world gen, but none show up when I go to embark. To make tests faster I was cutting off world gen around year 100. I also just recently noticed that Masterwork has a drider in it, so I think I will check out some of the creature level designs there to see what I could do better.

I have been working on a custom creature, mostly to learn how to do it, and because I thought it would be an interesting creature. Its an experiment at a spouse_converting civ, and I was attempting to avoid using babysnatcher for the time being. As far as I can tell it builds fine, error log doesn't show anything, and it appears in the Arena (and operates a bit better than I had intended, but that currently is secondary  :o). In legends they are showing up, though they all seem to start dying of old age at half of the maxage value, show having made civilizations but never show up as neighbors at embark.

As a note, I have borrowed/modified materials from Veok (leather mod), and Genesis (various enhanced creature mats). There is a chance I have used something else and forgot, but I think thats all thats borrowed for this one. Ahh the perils of serial borrowing heh.

seems to be decently useable outside of a civ, and probably would be much easier as not a Night Creature, but I thought it would make it more interesting. If anyone feels like using this in some fashion feel free, just let me know how you use it and if edited how so. Especially if its even more interesting  ;).

So, I am attempting to test new material's abilities to handle various types of weapon attack, and I realize that I do not know and method I feel particularly confident in for testing to give me meaningful results. Anyone have any particular methods they use to test custom materials  and/or items or tips on how to perform more focused testing in the arena?

I can specifically assign then to use bolts made of Rocktip material, but the bolts never show up as items they recognize and use. And i've tested them in the arena and they work fine there, so I am just a tad confused heh. Marksdwarves never have been an easy thing for me to set up for some reason, so I imagine if it wasn't this it would be something else  ;D.

I apologize if it has been recently answered, I tried to find mention of this, but I am having the damnedest time with the rocktip bolts. My marksdwarves simply refuse to use them, I have stockpiles of 500+ and they opt to instead grab random single iron bolts laying around from previous caravans. Any advice on this one?

A random thought on your ore storage, would making the product [PRODUCT:100:1:BOULDER:NONE:GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:K:NONE] do the trick as well? (since the ores are boulders if i am not mistaken). I don't have the ability to test this out, but I had to throw out my two cents, brain wouldn't let me rest otherwise  :).

A completely random curiosity, is it possible to set up a layer material to form with empty pockets? Hypothetically like say I wanted quartzite to have little mini caves inside of it, is that feasible?

I love the sound of this as well, if I knew of a method to test this stuff (and actually see what i was testing for) i'd join in, I am definately interested in the final product.

This tool would be an absolute dream. Hell as it is with the ability to edit the fields would be amazingly useful, get all the other features mentioned in and this would be total win. Good luck!  :D
