DF Suggestions / Re: Make Vampires a little less obvious?
« on: February 17, 2012, 09:37:20 am »
i found a vampire on accident when i saw a random farmer blinking blue like he was famous or something, so i talked to him and getting suspicious of his past, asked if he was a vampire... surprise!!!

Although, it seems like all of us found the vampires by accident, and getting a quest to kill one points you to the city where the vampire is.... so its not like you can just unmask vampires all over, or that its completely obvious, you still have to search for them. I just don't want to have to do a full investigation just to find a vampire.

What were your skill levels when you killed the were-rhino?  I found a were-beast, in human form, waited like a day, it transformed, killed me instantly.

i was a swordmaster, so at least great swordsman, and close to expert shield user, so i didn't want to get killed with no weapons or armor. I actually had to take off all my armor and lay down next to it just to get it to actually bite me.

i've found that it depends on the world.... sometimes, i'll go into the dungeons and there is no gear and no enemies. other times i go and there is enough gear to arm the entire city with. i've also noticed that when there is a lot of gear, there is usually a complete badass bandit, or creature who has been stockpiling all that crap. The best way to train is kobolds and boogeymen (in the city streets so you can retreat if you are too badly hurt). Then once you are confident, you can graduate to normal bandits.

i think were-ism cures all wounds after you change to and from your beast form. i know for a fact my adventurer regenerated his lost hand.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Were-ism... is it worth it?
« on: February 17, 2012, 04:25:18 am »
I lucked out when one of my legendary adventurers decided to kill a werehuman for an easy fame boost and i got attacked by a wererhinosceros. I got bit and then killed the beast, then fast traveled and upon being put back into the game found that i had transformed into a badass wererhinoceros. I was too scared to test him out in were-form, fearing that the peasants would ostracize me, so i hid in the dead wererhinoceros' cave. Upon turning back into a human, i noticed that the hand i had lost during my first battle was regenerated and i did't have the scar from being bitten. Although monthly total regeneration is awesome, i was wondering if some of the fellow adventurers would test whether the were-disease is worth it the rest of the time. It seems like you do get a buff against all weapons except those made of the thing you're weak against, since the werecreatures are normally just women and children sitting naked in caves, and i haven't one-shotted any i assume they get a buff... but with full iron armor, the biggest concern my adventurer has is that a hammerman, or god forbid, a crossbowman will chip a bone and cause me to pass out and get face raped. So i want to know if were-creatures really get a buff when in human form, and also how deep that is, because the villagers say that weapons won't cut so deep, but will bones still break as easily?

yeah, but have you seen slaves running around in the human fortresses? i think that means a clown was once the ruler.

i'm putting my vote in the iron longsword basket... it goes through limbs like butter and doesn't get stuck like the bigger, but more powerful iron two handed sword. Great axes are nice too, but they also tend to get stuck in the body.

were-ism also helps your adventurers... i got my legendary swordsman to become a wererhinoceros and after that one crazy night, i regenerated my lost hand and all former scars were gone!!!!

yeah, give your adventurers more shield skill, at least adequate, and you will be able to block the first few arrows, giving you enough time to bullrush the ranged enemies.

they are tough, i've had two legendary adventurers get mauled by them, along with countless other newbie adventurers trying to steal the secrets to life and death. I've found that the best way to approach necromancer towers is with a full hit squad of companions (the maximum 20).. that puts the zombies in their place.
