Special abilities should be visible in the MekHQ in the Personnel tab under the pilot's Edge score (if they possess a special ability).

Turns out I had them disabled in the Campaign Options. Now they're showing up. Finally! I knew something had to be wrong - just weird that they still made their way into MegaMek for battles. Thanks!

HAHAHAHAHAH, oh gosh, sorry! It's lingo for Simultaneous Fire and Simultaneous Physical Attacks! Basically all it means is that you can declare all of your attacks at the same time that the bot declares theirs. Which of you is getting shot at doesn't really influence who of them you decide to shoot - and maybe similar with physicals. Physicals can be a little bit more iffy because you might want not to kick if someone is kicking you, to reduce chances of falling or stuff like that. I tend to have an Always Kick Policy :D

Here you go - uploaded it: http://www.filedropper.com/mekhq-0319-windows

I am an idiot, there's also the official downloads where you can choose what to download: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mekhq/files/development/

Hahahahah :D He is the GM, so I'm gonna go with that!

Also, Hanzoku, I have my copy of 0.3.19 MekHQ here that I've zipped up. Want me to upload it somewhere? It seems to work just fine, except that you can't repair parts in the warehouse somehow.

Looking forward to seeing where we start :D We definitely feel like a rag-tag bunch so far.

Still surprised you didn't use symfire and symphys. So much time saving :)

Actually, a couple of questions.

How the hell to I check my Pilot's special abilities? As they've increased to Veteran they've gotten special abilities but I can't find where they are. These should obviously define in which mech I put each mechwarrior, but I CAN'T FIND THEM. I know they're in there somewhere, because MegaMek recognises them and I get some bonuses some time.

Also, has anybody had trouble repairing equipment in their warehouse in version 0.3.19?

Hahaha, never did try dropships in battle...

They do succeed but when your trying to repair the engine, gyro or internal structure, then it gets hard.

You mean the things that cost multiple hundreds of thousands of C-Bills? :D

I upped my back to the $50 level so I get beta access and also so another $25 go towards GETTING MULTIPLAYER WHICH TOTALLY NEEDS TO HAPPEN! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Edit: also, yes, I could totally care less about specific characters. I generally prefer if everything is procedural. I have a phobia of limited content, as it turns out.

I shall continue my glorious career of peppering enemies however far they are, taking down none of them, but secure in my knowledge that if the battle went on until infinity, I might have won!

Screw it, why not!

Name: Zhou Smythe
Callsign: Anvil
Age: 29
Birthdate: 13th December
Gender: male

Nation of Origin: Liao

Bio: family's half CC, half FS (hence the name). I had a pretty regular career path in the CCAF, as far as mechwarriors go. Your regular, non-descript mechwarrior grunt, that'd be me! My particular unit in the CCAF got caught up in a lot of the Liao family's incompetent plans. Over time, most of the people I'd known in my unit died or were captured in combat, and I slowly came to realise how the Liao family was manipulating the press to sugar-coat all of their terrible decisions and failed actions. It dawned on me that the people who were commanding us weren't the benevolent rulers they claimed to be, and were instead petty and conniving, with very little thought for their armed forces or citizens. So, after a particularly bloody border skirmish where I was the only left out of my lance, I just punched out and waved the proverbial white flag. I used that opportunity to defect. Maybe I wandered around, or maybe I just joined this unit (that I was fighting against?).

I've been having fun with this. Although I guess I kind of cheat by putting a drop ship in a force and having it deploy into missions as reinforcements. It takes 9 turns to get to the battle but it can usually wipe out a full company on its own.

And if I'm not mistaken, hiring a dropship allows you to use the transport bay for repairs, which is a big plus. In the Field or Field Workshop repairs never succeed properly...

Even with PrincessBot? It's supposed to be a lot more efficient than the usual bot. 4 v 4 battles ought to be not horrible, and I do think you can customise it so that you always get mechs (so you don't get double the # of Vs)... or manually reduce the number of enemy units.

Though admittedly, MegaMek is somehow really taxing on the computer. Some options alleviate this, like calculating moves, LOS, and so forth.

Neato :) Thanks for the response!

I've taken to trying to get only Veteran and Elite mechtechs (some Regs creep in there) for assigned to maintenance. Greens and regulars take care of most repairs, since parts are in decent state most of the time. I do have the only A quality parts get damaged thing (why A isn't good quality, I'll never understand).

I'm starting to wish there was a meta-meta-campaign now though. I just go from contract to contract to contract... with each contract meaning little to nothing. Heh. One day I will be satisfied :P

Better always use simfire :P Makes the game so much quicker! I've yet to find situations where it really matters!

Also, I actually don't know how to set my MGs to rapid fire within MekHQ. Any tips on that?

And how often do you cheat with Against the Bot? Often it'll give me completely impossible missions that destroy an entire lance, or the game will bug and the AI will refuse to deploy. I've been playing what I guess could be termed easy mode by not having double the enemy vehicles, by skipping missions when things are too hot, and by allowing myself to put mechs in a maintenance bay for repairs, and sometimes cheating and GMing CT repairs.

I don't think I'd generally be able to keep up otherwise, though it'd be fun to try to. I also just generally cheat the defection rolls, because I'm not interested in starting from scratch every year.

Also, the reason I reduce the number of enemy vehicles if because battles take too long otherwise, and also because sometimes BT has bullshit luck and you get AC/2 or AC/5'd from a billion miles away, get a critted, and instantly lose the assault mech you just bought to a catastrophic explosion. I just can't deal with that.

Yeah! Nobody lets you know how difficult it is to run a transoceanic mercenary band, do they? It's all fun and games (and lasers and death) in the books, but this is how it is in real life!

Anyway, I'll be looking closely at this :) Been doing my own MekHQ campaign. Fun fun fun. Although hard hard hard, at times.

Sweet! PTW!

Are you thinking of having people pilot their own mechs by connecting through MegaMek? I mean, whenever possible at all.
