I've noticed the posts, but I'm TAing a terrible course so I probably won't take care of this giveaway until that's over. There's just too much happening right now.

The good news is that there will be a bunch of awesome games to add to the list when that happens!

Sorry, and see ya on the other side of this semester :P

I'm a big fan of non-fiction, so if you're into opening up your horizons as far as relationships are concerned, you can read about polyamory! It's super fun, and makes you grow like a pea plant listening to heavy metal (i.e. a lot):

Opening Up, by Taormino - about open relationships in general, both sexual and romantic
More Than Two, by Veaux and Rickert - more of a practical guidebook to behaving ethically in relationships (with a focus on open relationships)
Sex at Dawn, by Ryan and Jethá - thoughts on how humans really evolved to be, sexually and socially
The Myth of Monogamy, by Barash and Lipton - scientific evidence on why sexual monogamy isn't actually a thing

All pretty nifty. Really opened my eyes!

To amazon!

Check your local library too! In case I forget to come back here, do send me a message if any of these books made a lasting impact on you :)

Humble Store's daily includes Company of Heroes 2 @ -75% / US$9.99 ... Medieval 2 Total War @ -lots% / US$0.99 !!! (flash sale; 6 hours left as of this post)

The discounts have been getting deeper this round of sales than previously on Humble...  Don't forget to keep an eye out tomorrow for another freebie!

Thanks! Even though I have Medieval discs somewhere, its nice to have it one Steam for only $1.

Now I need to try some mods, never tried mods before.

Quite a few mods required the Kingdoms expansion, I think? I might be wrong.

The Pixeljunk Shooter games are more puzzley, and I think - emphasis on think - that they can be played hot-seat.

Hehheheh, it's not a popularity contest! :)

I guess for me it's just that I'm not into more arcadey games that much, which this appears to be? I dunno...

Yeah, I still can't figure out how JS became a thing...

640
Ooooh, I see. I guess this would allow you to not really have to reimplement AgoraLib in JS?

Do people actually have to run Java on their computer then?

641
I think there's something I don't understand. The java stuff should basically be running on its own. All it's down is it has a socket that's awaiting connections. How is javascript become aware that it's even a java program running? All that the javascript client-side application should be doing is opening a socket?

642
I honestly have no clue... but I know that those things can be really finicky given the experience signing jars that some people have had in my research lab. I wonder if it's possible to have it accept unsigned jars somehow?

Another vote for Warlock: Master of the Arcane!

Expeditions: Conquistador is also on sale in Steam, and it's a pretty legit tactical game!

Hmmmm, the problem is that we are using tokens - i.e. when you login, you get a token that you reuse, and that's how the server knows who you are. If you had a single user that everyone is reusing, sessions would get mixed up. We can always check for whether it's the default user though.

Or we can just check whether a message comes with authentication. If it does, we check it. If it doesn't we check whether server allows for this query to be "publicly available"?

Now that the sales thread has branched out, I think we need a Steam-specific thread for non-sales questions and discussions.

Is anyone else having trouble getting Steam to run properly right now? I can't even get the damn program to launch. It was giving me errors like "unable to connect to Steam," so I deleted the ClientRegistry.blob file, as per usual, and now it won't even TRY to launch. I guess I'll try reinstalling the program, but I was wondering if anyone else has been having trouble since they updated their launcher?

Sometimes it's not you. You can always try this: http://issteamdown.com/!
