The problem is "Electronic" is incredibly vague considering almost every car produced in the last 15 or even longer years has some sort of internal wiring, fuses and even sensors and other things built in. Mechanical is also an extra pointless distinction, all cars have mechanical components! I mean what does he seriously think every single one is 100% different from each other? The biggest distinction I can think of is that most "smart cars" use keyless entry systems and use push buttons to start that need a little fob keychain within distance to start.
The drawbacks of a mostly wireless system should be obvious, not that exploiting it is super common yet.
