You can actually turn autosave on for non ironman games. I know we use it but without ironman since the touchpad on this laptop can be kinda sensitive about clicks, and that's caused problems when a door gets clicked on a button for an ability that wasn't intended gets clicked. Not to mention accidentally hitting to scan for activity rather than respond to abductions.

Hey guys, I think I might have figured something out: The difficulty of missions appears to be tied to the panic level of countries. From my experience, the closer to panic the country is, the harder the missions appear to be.

Anyone else notice this?

This is only really true early on if at all. Me and my fiancee are what we think is a decent way into plot objectives and even on non paniced locations we don't get anything less than very difficult.

And now every mission has at least one cyberdisk and at least one or three whole squads of mutons. We're really, really glad we got the upgrade to keep higher ranked people alive more often when their HP bottoms out. We'd of lost 4 guys if not more past the base assault by now if we didn't.

So we haven't really been playing fast or exceptionally well. But today me and my fiancee shot down and raided our first large UFO in this version. With a team armed with laser pew pew guns.

I think that was the definitive moment it hit me. I'm not playing just some TBS. This really is an X-Com game.

This has been the longest fucking 10 minutes ever.

I swear it's been 3 minutes and I feel like I've sat here for a whole day.

Likely never really played is the point. The original games are the sort you need to really invest some serious time in to say you really have given them a proper play. The sort of thing you can't get out of a weekend at a friends house.

Also I don't own either of those...

Wait.

You apparently have never played the original X-com yet you've been complaining about the new one.

You don't gain any currency for achievements. At least right now. There's some dumb reward program thing in the works that some people are guessing will give rewards based on gamerscore but that's not a current feature, and in my opinion isn't likely to ever give out microsoft points. As it is, right now they just have a stupid very minimalist program that as far as I know gives you avatar items on your birthmonth and a teeny tiny 1% rebate on purchases for what most people would consider a pretty huge gamerscore. So yeah that's never gonna be worth pursuing.

The current achivement weirdness isn't a product of that anyway. It's a product of every retail game having a bare minimum of 1000 points worth of achivements. Not sure if there's a limit of the number of achivements total.

So I'm minding my own business, browsing the net via PSP and watching my girlfirend play Borderlands 2.

When I notice she's laughing her ass off at an enraged goliath attacking a volleyball net over and over, screaming at it.

He just told the net to scream for him now in fact. After telling it to prepare it's eyeballs for finger insertion.

So people are complaining about the Demo UI when the old UI was already pretty terrible? I love X-Com as much as anyone I think, since it was one of my first games but come on guys. Anything is better than that mouse only button driven mess.

I spend the last 20 or so minutes trying to get someone I know my girlfriend will listen to to just snap out of the little trance she's gotten herself into from trying to fix a series of events out of her control. And... Nothing. Just ignoring me about it.

Just what the fuck? Does he think this is funny or something?

I've been trying to calm down over bullshit that screwed so badly with a very close friends head today, and that made her go to bed depressed and feeling guilty.

Nope. Not calm still. Still pissed at who I feel was responsible for it. I'm just gonna go to bed myself before my mood gets the better of me and I start yelling at them.

But if one stalker stalks another they'll keep moving in circular patterns of the others last location. Picking up little things left behind by the other for all eternity.

I'd of added my location, but I live with Janet so that would be fairly pointless. Pretty sure her sister would be pissed if I stuck it right where we live too.

The way I see it? If anyone were to be stalked it'd be Janet (who gave a non-specific area)

You seem to have that bit backwards. If anything she's the creepy stalker. If the folders full of pictures of characters she likes and other things I wont mention on her computer say anything. But hey it's interesting having a creepy stalker as a girlfriend.
