And do you know what similarities there are between Dwarf Fortress, Minecraft and Terraria?

You dig.

These games are nothing alike, why do you insist that they rip each other off?

And my entire militia just got owned in a matter of seconds. One or two of them went down swinging, but most just got beat into the ground by swarms of the bastards. The caverns are full of smoke as my population dwindles.

All burn.

My first successful fort has reached the point of near fps death. I have decided to give it an honorable end and I am now in the process of breaching hfs.

This is actually nothing like Dwarf Fortress, except for the fact that it's about dwarves who die horribly.

110
Some other bastard miner stole it!  >:(

Which is a good thing, actually, as I never would've been able to track it in stockpile hell. And I only found out because he was going fishing and owned a badger with it.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Most Anticlimatic Battles Ever

When I was a baby dwarf fortress player, I didn't know anything about Titans or Forgotten beast. My first Titan? A giant humanoid made of snow.

When I see him come, I begin to panic, thinking of all the unspeakable horrors that it may unleash upon my fortress. So, I order my militia to go outside and face this monstrosity, fully expecting this, massive, icy horror, this behemoth of cold white death, this monster of frost, to wipe them out. As they filter out the gate, I pause and say a personal goodbye to each of the fifteen brave souls, commending them for their courage, rallying them to their greatest feats of strength and skill, weeping for their tiny, digital lives. They charge in open battle across the plains, a mighty war cry escaping from their lips. The titan, the embodiment of death, turned hate filled eyes on them, and it's rage for all things warm blooded drove it to charge, roaring at the brave defenders. With a mighty clash, the two forces join in an epic confrontation, lasting for pages and pages, a maelstrom of snow and blood and steel and flesh! A twister of screams; screams of the agonized, those laying shattered on the ground, broken, those bleeding out, weeping for the beauty of the underground halls they shall never see again, crying out to loved ones whose touch they shall never feel. And the screams of the victorious; those who are left standing to cheer for their victory over the icy abomination, those who are left to celebrate and sing and feast to their mighty victory, those who will go down in the annals of Udirnazush as the heroes of Blackblood!

...

Nah, just kidding. An axedwarf bisected the guy with a single punch. Made of snow, after all.

M>W>Specfic weapon then find the pick and assign it to the dorf.

As stated previously:

I looked. It's not in the menu.

through the military screen, m -> e, select squad, select dudeface, W and the just pick the adamantium pick from there or you can make a uniform for that specific guy

I can't find it in the specific weapons list, and when I tell him to equip a random pick he refuses to pick (no pun intended) one up.

Disable the mining profession from him before drafting him into the military.  The mining 'uniform' and the soldier 'uniform' clash and he won't pick up the weapon.  He should pick up the pick basically right away.

Disabled mining and he still isn't picking up the pick.

::) I wanted a pick wielding adamantium super soldier...

Sure thing.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I have no idea where the walrus came from...

117
I see.

So how do I get one to equip the pick?

118
Human caravan to save the day!

Now I'm just waiting for him to pull an adamantine hammer out of his ass.  ::)

Edit:

Aaaaand it's an adamantium pick. That's... okay, I guess.

ReEdit: OH MY GOD IT'S WORTH OVER A MILLION DWARFBUCKS.

What are ALL the things he is requesting?

Rock blocks, yarn cloth, more rock blocks, rough gems, candy wafers.

Looks like the yarn is going to be the stumbling block.

120
So he won't collect any of it if I don't have all of it.

Crap. He's a legendary weaponsmith and he's already grabbed a ton of candy.
