Try putting in a custom CDI:VERB line with the verb of your choice.  Something like:

[CDI:VERB:shoot a stone:shoots a stone:NA]
Where would I put that?
In the creature file?

Also, it turns out these things are kinda wimpy.
Their stone attack takes a while to charge, and their bite isn't exactly strong. Plus chitin is poor armor...
Might need to make 'em bigger...

Hey hey, thanks, Sphalerite!
They will now successfully shoot stones!
Only problem is it says they spit them...
Any way to change that or is it stuck?

Unfortunantly, that has not worked.
Pitting the GCB against an Alligator didn't cause it to fire its guns.
It instead opted to try to bite it.
Got killed pretty quickly.
Also, what's the key command to do a special ability in adventure mode?
That might help test to see if the ability is there.

Hello.
Today I'm trying to mod in a creature.
I'm having a few difficulties, however.
Here's the raw file.

Now, for my questions:
1. How do I get this creature to fire stones? I'm pretty sure the code I have in there now is terribly botched up. (I just copied the code for Dragonfire, added in a few parts from GCS's, and made some changes.)
2. Do I need to mod in a new part to create the "Cannon on its back"? (I'm using Lower Body as a placeholder right now.)
3.Any other recomendations?

I wonder why pants were invented...
It's easier to run in a kilt/skirt.
Or so I've heard.
I guess pants can protect your legs from bad weather...
At the cost of mobility...
Am I correct about this?

An actual robe type robe is more like a really heavy long sleeved dress.

I removed shirts from the game, so most of my dwarves wear robes (or dresses) with hoods and cloaks.

Dresses are somewhat undwarven though, so maybe I'll go only with robes.
The hell you talkin' about?
Robes have an opening in the front, and have to be tied to be closed.
Dresses are completely protected.
Dresses>Robes.

On this topic, I got the best vision from this. It requires explanation, though.
I'm aware that Bronze Colossi are animate statues, but I've always thought of them more like giant robots from a lost civilization.
So the image of a dwarf blowing through a giant robots neck with a fuff ball is hilarious to me.
