About the lockpicking issue, I believe the culprit is our own caravan. I experienced this several time. Every merchants in Kobold's trading guild must master art of thieve before they are allowed to join any caravan :P In the event of seige, make sure there is no caravan around. If there is one, let them all in, don't leave them outside. They are 1st grade camp breaker lol

What is with all the above-ground entrances anyway? Whose bright idea was that?

Exactly my thought :P

I still not sure what to make do with that twisted passage.
It look great for accomudate lot and lot of traps. (I also like malkomk's design)
The problem is where it start and end....
It start from the beach and end inside our camp right where our hospital and (newly built ?) farms are.
Perhap we can seal the farm off, scrap those forward bunkers, make new entrances out of it and make the beach exit of our trap maze.

I noticed that as well. I have so high hope on him that he will make our ace.
Unfortunately though He didn't survive the seige in my game lol.

He was down there at the beach where 4 goblins are playing with our babies.
He couldn't run pass them to safety.
actually he could go along that twisted  passage to the inside of the camp.
but the passage is way too long that Kochulder guy decide that it's better idea to make a run throught goblin's axes.
He didn't make it so far.....



Oh and I still waiting for Svarte's respond whether who'll actually play this turn though.
I don't want to post without his permission.

OK I did save the camp.... from this imediate danger anyway. Let's see how it stabilize.
This is way harder than I thought. It's not about fought off the goblin. But the game keep crashing on me.
So many bugs that I need to keep avoiding lol

Well, good luck with that.  I've played Kobold Camp before, and zerging the enemy doesn't work like it does with dwarves, at all. Kobold limbs are like taffy or something. When you send 20 untrained and unarmed kobolds at a lone goblin axeman you get to watch them die one-by-one. I'm tellin' you man, you need to use your wits; trap labyrinths with three level dodge-pitfalls, bridges of death, controllable grates, flooding, collapsable ceilings, door mazes filled with cage traps (fun fact: invaders cannot go through doors you suddenly forbid), etc.
There is wisdom in military as well. Zergling is the worst thing you can do even for dwarves. But some people still expect heroic deeds out of it, perhap from talented individual. I don't normally do that. Hydralisking is way better option. Even better if you do it on the platform. All in all true wiseman uses both trap and military :P

I don't think we have much choice this time around though lol

On a side note, someone should get around to engraving the bottom level of the cave. And we need to do something about the prisoners so we can claim their equipment. I recommend dropping them off a 3-story building and turning them into paraplegic pinatas for our aspiring recruits.
Yeah that is also my plan. We need historic engrave hall. I have yet to decided where that hall should be. By bottom level, you mean our current level3 or keep digging down until we hit stone floor ? luckily Alkhemia is still safe and sound. He is a great engraver.

We are basicly in middle of slaughter seige now.
If you want to try to save the camp 1st, go ahead, I don't mind.
If it's spish, I would like to preserve my right as the 3rd in queu and try before him.
The final decision is up to Svarte though.

And I don't know why my bold is in the military, he really ain't soldier material; according to his description, he is very weak and clumsy.

This is where we see thing different. The camp is in this turmoil, why the fuck isn't EVERYONE in the fucking military :P
Nobody born a fighter (well not many anyway). You just need to keep working on it everyday and eventualy you'll become good.
If you keep waiting and waiting for talented fighter, the goblin will hit you when you have 4 military ^^"

I would prefer to continue with my story if possible. It's Svarte's dicision though.
I promise it won't take long. Tonight, a few days at most, I will let you know if I succeed or fail.
I also promise many kobolds will likely die under my reign :D
because, you see, I am military mind, meaning, I'm using mainly military to defend the fort, not traps (I do use them but not as a longgggg uber trap hall )
So you can expect some epic battles and....... casualty lol
oh and some serious overhual of camp's defend squads.

OMG it's blood. I'm covering in blood. So much blood, I'm dying....

While I am spacing out something is rolling beside me.
Oh hey, I know this guy.
Isn't he our current overseer Mallkomm ??        (****spelling is abit different but I assume this is your bold is it not malkomk? ****)
He suppose to lead us until the end of year.
But now he abandon us.
well, nobody can really blame him. Can we ?
He can't lead us with only his head after all.

As I look around, I realize that it's not me that cover in blood.
But the whole place is full of blood, Kobold blood.
And not just blood, Kobold's corpses are lying everywhere.
Not just kobold's corpse, there are also yak's, lamb's, kobold's, reindeer's, mule's, kobold's, well mainly kobold's but you got the picture.

I look futher north and recognize a guy
If I am not wrong this guy is one of founding members of this camp MonkeyHead is he not.
Sadly, he is now just a corpse drowning in his own blood.
I look to other side across the lake, at the end of nice blood trail and recognize another guy.
Isn't he our founder himself, Svarte. anyway, he is resting peacfully near lakeside with his beloved camp.
This place is done for.



I finally come to realization that our camp are underseige by goblin force and I was drafted to help defending it.
Why it took me so long to realize that ?
because I didn't see a single goblin corpse in sight.
This is not a battle, more like a slaughter.
I just arrive here last summer.
Not long after my arrival, these curse goblin come and start killing everyone.
I knew it, I shouldn't leave caveholme and come to this shitty place.
oh but if I didn't come here I wouldn't meet my wife Glidikifleedis........

Wait ! Where is she ?
Where is my wife ? She isn't here.
 I need to rush to her side.
Oh wait, no, I can't doing it barehand. I need to find myself a weapon
Oh right, I was picking up my equipment just now, how can I forget that.
I look around at our former leader corpses.
They are somewhat armored but nothing resemble a weapon.
But did they fight with before they die anyway........

current situation
6 invaders left :

4 axegoblins

69 kobolds left:
out of 69, 22 is kid, so 47 adult
out of 47 adult I'm still not sure how many is out of commision due to injury.
3 in hospital 3 more on ground from what I see, may be more.

so we are looking at 40 vs 6 not an impossible number to deal with.
problem is our camp defend force (if we can call it that) is scatter all over the camp.
most is still barehand and in procees of picking up equipment.
many will run into goblin and attempt to sucide fight empty-hand
Realisticly, I guess we are looking at 20-30 ill-equipped kobolds ve 6 now elite goblins.

Will Throbograynkus suceed at saving his beloved wife ?
Will He survive himself ??
Will the entire camp even survive ????

I just looking at the save today. I haven't unpaused the game yet.
Just look around the disaster situation of the camp, look for any name bold, and some interesting bold to bold myself.
If kote or anyone who suppose to have a turn before me show up and want to take a challenge first, go ahead.
Just treat this as some intermission story and continue with your turn. Oh, and bold me with that little guy please.
If npbpdy is up, I am ready to attempt to save the camp tonight :P

No worry there malkomk. Kobold camp is famous for that most camps won't make it past 1st seige anyway. If it's ok, I would like to try rescue the camp as well. Perhap we all should try and share the result of our struggling. And from what I see from the old save, saving the camp is pretty challenging :p

A Kobold camp succession game ? Sound fun !!

I would like a bold and perhap a turn, if our camp survive until then :P

I would like a hunter if any left standing or a bowbold. If neither is available, then a herbalist, or any bold that will go outside.
I wanna see how long my bold last in wildeness.

Aye, It was KOBOLD caravan. It is as exactly as you discribed. I will keep that in mind lol
As for merchant thief, it gave me a good laugh. So no big deal if it's not fixed.
We just need to make sure not to put trade depot one locked door away from dining hall :p

Metal : So that mean even I found tetrahedrite on my map I won't be able to mine it anyway right ? In that case, rather than making metalshaper useable with tetrahedrite, The better solution may be eneble copper or in liaison request / embark screen. I hope that does not make Kobold's life too easy.

Loot : I see. but it's wield that I can loot and use Goblin's loincloth/tunic as is but not glove/boot etc. They don't have large tag either unlike troll's one.

I also stumble across a few bugs these last few days (or are these intentional ?? lol)

Every Kobold merchant seem to be master class thief. When they are chased by Goblins, they will unlock each and every layers of my locked door, leading invader force right into the heart of  my camp.

Whenever I try to attack caravan right after my bowbold shoot at them they will turn and shoot at each other instead. My civilian will join in as well. It's like everyone is shooting at everyone. Put an end to my camp lol.

Metalworking : The problem is there is no copper nugget to be requested from liaison/embark screen. Unless your map has (reachable) native copper vein, this building will be useless. Even if you discover tetrahedrite vein the ore you mined will be tretahedrite stone thus can't be use in reaction. I suggest expand the reaction to cover tetrahedrite and malachite as well.

Soap : Got it, I will take it like a kobold.

Food : I will try keep an eye on my egg roast supply. I have come to my own conclusion though that I should wait til they hatch for more bone and leather.

Looting : I didn't hope for my kobold to use human-size large breastplate. I was hoping that I could at least use small size gears looted from goblin/elf/dwarf. Does the game handle Kobold as smaller being than a dwarf ? I am ok with workshop that change loot into savage version but DF Kobold (as least in vanilla) was famous for being thief race. That's why I imagine them to be able to use stolen gear as is.

Trading : yep it's wierd. I believe this to be DF issue rather than KC issue. The problem is I can't find where to change the setting or when/where I mess it up. Hope someone can enlight me.

Build : I meant the whole ash thing is currently in KC.It is just that I never noticed it in vanilla since all the stones/log/block will pile up several 1st pages. And I found it odd that I can build the whole archer tower from vermin ash lol

Although I do miss watching a kobold mom carrying her 12 children around with her. The idea of kobold laying egg sound interesting, but how will it work in-game exactly ? Will the mother carry her eggs around with her ? (then what is a point ? ^^") Will she leave them in her badroom ? or hallway :p ?? or will she need nestbox ??? do we have to make room out of them ????

Ability to build screw would mean ability to build water pump right ? Not to Koboldish if you ask me :p
For me who isn't that trap oriented, I don't have enough wood as it is I don't think I can spare any wood to build decent trap anytime soon. May be some weapon trap with looted weapon but that is it.

Yes, my wood processor does have 2 reaction. However, the 1st one is for turning 1 log not 1 stalk into 2 blocks sadly.

My current camp is in its 4th years. It just (barely) survives 3 consecutive seiges. Those damn goblins attack me me continuously through out my 3rd winter. My kobold fought valiantly without any trap and successfully fend off three goblin waves. not without a cost tho

I lost like 40 or so Kobolds in this odeal with 30 more wounded. Out of my 24 remaining children 11 is destined to meet their doom in the near future with their mother death or too depress to come out and eat. (got to love how large their families are) Only a third of my camp able to perform any real function right now. Even my witchdoctor caught it in his guts and lie conciouslessly in his bed. I just name a random peasant to take his place together with some craftmen who somehow dabling in any medical field. We will see how many Kobold succumb to the infection. If my camp live long enough to see that day ^^"

The real problem, however, is that it is now summer. Seem like I missed my spring caravan during all these fighting. If the 4th siege come before I get supplies from summer caravan, my camp may be finished. I just emptied out my supply of arrow during last siege. I deforested the entire map long time ago. I initially have 8x20 woodstalk farm going on. but somehow all seeds are vanished. I never let any Kobold cook nor brew any woodstalk either.

I don't know about reptile kobold, but judging from description, DF kobold is definitely a doggy one :)
