An iron halberd.

Anything I have on me, from a pouch full of coins to my jaguar spleen lunch. If I'm desperate I tend to pick up corpses and throw them at a close range, it works wonders.

Heresy!

This offends me greatly. By Armok I shall slay every last one of these goblins or I will not have the right to call myself a dwarf!

I pretty much exclusively play dwarves for their martial trances and the possibility for steel weapons. I play humans sometimes when I get frustrated at not finding armor, but rarely ever elves. The speed boost is nice I guess, but the animal friendship thing is more annoying than helpful because you have to confirm every attack you make on animals and you don't get experience.

It would be nice if elves were able to recruit tamable creatures as companions with animal training skill. Maybe with a high enough level they would be able to tame exotic pets.

Was sent to kill an elven overlord in the local catacombs who turned out to be a mummy. I didn't escape.

I determinedly set off in my quest...

They're religious leaders and they tend to get really strange names.

Also, thanks for the nightmares you son of an elf.

There was another thread where someone found a demonic fortress. They pulled the sword but no demons came out, and they even travelled all the way down to hell.

Of course the demons came to investigate then, and so he was killed by demon scorpions.

Thread should still be here, "To Pull or not to pull"

I always laughed at a vampire's rediculously long kill list... Then I thought "what if they named every sentient being they killed when you accused them?" O.o

Related because I was killed by a vampire when he broke my legs and arms and that tore my throat out. I bled to death in less than 10 turns.

EDIT:

Another death. I was sent to kill a dragon with about 20 companions helping out. Turns out his dragonfire set several items on the floor on fire, and those who didn't have shields. As I was looting the cave I made sure not to pick up any flaming item but what with the smoke and the burning, soon my right hand was melting. As I made my way out crawling slowly under the horde of companions, about half of them died of blood loss. I myself was heavily bleeding from my right hand.

I made it outside with the half smart enough to bring a shield/ not touch that shiny !!pigtail fiber pouch!! full of coins or something, and promptly bled to death before I could Travel.

"You'll remember the Stupid Curse when we're done with you."

Can't believe I found these guys again.

Vampires get a boost in stats, so you'll miss a lot and probably have to aim for the head to kill it. Usually it is indeed one of the peasants in the house that ends up kicking his head in, while I finish chopping off his last limb.

Maybe if I had empathized with the demons and played them a song...

Something cheerful and upbeat about torture and death. Actually, the population of the demon fortresses might have been at some underworld festival or other.

Well that all just depends on how lucky you get during world gen. Whether or not the two civs form alliances and integrate into another is totally random. I've never found one.

I think he means actual fortresses in the dwarf fortress sites, looking exactly like human towns but populated by dwarves.

You would have survived if your musicality was higher.
