I can confirm that 0.7.1 runs correctly without giving the error message (which I've ran into with 0.7 as well).

I'd also like to point out another solution to the problem, in case someone missed it - the newest LNP has the growth bug already patched. If you can't get DFMM to run, this may be the best solution for you.

Wasn't the MEGADORF kinda what you have in mind?

So, pardon me if this was already posted, but I stumbled upon a Kickstarter project about an all-dwarven tabletop RPG and immediately thought of role-playing the fate of Boatmurdered with it. Looks VERY dorfy.

If anyone would like to support, here's the link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2063410154/axes-and-anvils

dwarfest place ever

This, totally. When I went there on a tour I was like, WTF, this is a dwarf fortress, pure and simple. Complete with smoothed walls carved out of natural rock, rock salt statues, underground temple, underground lake and even the mine floodings (though we didn't get to see those, of course). The only thing that's missing is magma.

Well, at least this proves that dorfs escaping from a magma flow with only minor burns are actually plausible. I mean, holy shit, those guys are walking over 1 inch thick crust of cooling lava in normal hiking boots...

Tholtig. Please, please don't waste this opportunity and immortalize Tholtig with your project. If her story isn't epic and awesome enough, nothing is.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: First thoughts.

My first thoughts after reading this thread:

1. Mod in beards as a dwarven body part.
2. Try and get some of them severed. Store outside.
3. Wait for an elven caravan.
4. Let the undead dwarven beards slaughter the elves.
5. ???
6. PROFIT!

I savescum to avoid dwarf deaths (most of the time).

I don't use any third-party mods, just a few tiny fixes to things I find annoying, such as lack of elven diplomats and human guild representatives. Also, I've added one new tree to the list. That's all.

I've never gone to war with humans. Can't really say why, I just don't do it. Goblins and elves are enough to sate my bloodlust.

I consider danger rooms an unfun exploit and never use them.

I like orthoclase and microcline.

I find the adventure mode pointless, boring and dull.

My friends refer to DF mostly as "that strange game of managing dwarven socks". For some reason, this is the only thing that has stuck from my quite detailed explanations.

I've seen something like this once. It was a seriously bugged embark, the very moment I unpaused I got a few messages about cave-ins, an alert about freeing the clowns, and then the game slowed to a fraction of a FPS. The messages continued to appear. Just before scrapping the save I used dfreveal to see what the hell is going down there. There was no slade at all, just some very strange, grass-filled caverns (with surface trees, too) going about 10 z-levels up from the bottommost layer. They were randomly criscrossed with empty space and something that looked like mutilated remains of the magma sea. Also, the grassy tiles were light and above ground.

It's a pity that it was unplayable.

Bones from slain reanimated undead (including body parts) will be unavailable for crafting.

Somehow, there will be dwarf wereelves.

Fortress mode. While I like to play an adventurer every once in a blue moon, it gets boring for me pretty fast. Even if I don't get eaten by bogeymen three seconds into the game.

That being said, I'm curious as to what exactly did Toady mean when he mentioned expanding the xml dumps not too long ago. Sounds like the obvious thing, that the dumps will contain more information (useful for the Legends Viewer and the like), but I can't help but wonder if the legends mode will also get some completely new data. Well, aside from the vampire/werebadger/false identity shenanigans, because that's more or less a given.

Found this thread just now. It's awesome. I sincerely hope this is not the end.

Everyone seems to be having exams around these times. I have an english exam starting in 1 h 15 min, and a history exam tomorrow, and a swedish exam the day after...

Same here. Japanese literature in two hours, Japanese art on Monday and history of philosophy on Tuesday. It's just more or less standard time for a winter semester's end.

I really hope the release happens either today or a bit late on Tuesday. Otherwise there are gonna be problems  8)

Yes to both. Also, avoid cage traps, as currently there's no way to escape from a cage in adventure mode.
