General Discussion / Re: I like anime, do you like anime?
« on: September 11, 2012, 10:19:32 pm »
I've really only watched a few anime's about martial arts, not really my thing.

I'd mainly recommend watching the live action film Shogun Assassin.

Seconding Natsuki Crisis, and adding Angel Densetsu. Problem is both are 2 episodes only.

I've seen a few parodies about martial artists:

- Ikkitousen: total not recommending this. They called it Battle Vixens in America, I call it Battle Sluts.

- Ranma 1/2 (160 episodes and pretty hilarious, lots of fights)

- Kage kara Mamoru! (short, silly ninja romance comedy but kinda cute and not much fan-service)

- Asu no Yoichi! :- This show has some big flaws but a few things I like about it more than similar shows. It's a blatant rip-off of Love Hina and Ranma 1/2 style shows, with cliche ecchi harem stuff, but the art's nice and the two main guys have decent personalities and can fight good, the sidekick is actually a badass who got a decent character development story of his own, and some girls interested in him, which is almost unheard-of in harem. One guy is a samurai, the other is a streetfighter. An ok 12 episodes if you like this kind of action / harem comedy.

You had me at Battle Sluts.

If you really suck at PvP, then don't play to win, you play to troll them or waste time while you have the most fun. This is usually accomplished with fog ring, chameleon spell or force spamming to imitate WoG spam.

Oh man, the chameleon spell in the forest is such a dick move. People running all around smacking each and every bush or hiding in a group of pots

Honestly I was saying Space Marines half heartedly before... but boobplate pretty much moved it from joke to "Yeah they were really thinking about space marines when designing this game".
Wait.. what? Space Marines don't even have womens.
A point, he makes it. Unless Neon isn't talking of the 40k Marines.
I think the Adepta Sororitas would qualify.

Also it is because Xcom would suck without sexyness

I mean... women holding their own based purely on their talents? When the heck has that ever happened?

What we need is women in skin tight armor that shows off their breasts... how else are we supposed to tell which woman is better then the next?

Ohh! suggestion!

Women's breasts should increase size as their skills go up. Perfect idea!
I like the way you think.
Also the men should wear boobplate too! We can pack that empty space with shield generators and other sci-fi fancyness!
Or more armor.
Codpieces. Codpieces with laser rifles in them.

I believe the reason most people do not like it is because in medieval combat, a shot to the chest, with a boobplate, would send the sword glancing up at the neck.

However, in X-COM, I believe the aliens are simply intimidated by boobies. It's the only logical explanation.

It's about the same reason why women don't normally get custom body armor. The breasts more or less catch the bullets, directing them into your center mass.

THOUSANDS of students in an east China city are being forced to work at a Foxconn plant after classes were suspended at the beginning of the new semester, it has been revealed.

Students from Huai'an in Jiangsu Province were driven to a factory in the city run by Taiwan's Foxconn Technology Company after the plant couldn't find sufficient workers for the production of Apple's much-anticipated iPhone 5, they said in online posts.

A student majoring in computing at the Huaiyin Institute of Technology said 200 students from her school had been driven to the factory.

They started work on the production line last Thursday and were being paid 1,550 yuan (US$243.97) a month for working six days a week, she said.

But they had to pay hundreds of yuan for food and accommodation, she said in an online post under the name of mengniuIQ84.

Several other students from at least five colleges backed up what she said, saying they were being forced to work for 12 hours a day.

Badly disrupted

A Jiangsu Institute of Finance and Economy student called Youyoyu said students from departments of law, English and management were all working at the plant.

A Huai'an University student posting under the name of Dalingzhuimengnan said Foxconn was badly in need of 10,000 workers but students were looking forward to returning to classrooms to continue their academic studies which had been seriously disrupted.

MengniuIQ84 wrote that the authorities had ordered the schools to send students to assist Foxconn but said that the factory neither informed parents nor signed agreements with students.

One or two schools had canceled their internship programs with Foxcon after media exposure and pressure from the public, she said, but her institute had no plans to do so and had even punished students who had tried to leave the factory.

Fear of revenge

Yu Fangqiang, executive director of Nanjing-based Tianxiagong, a non-government organization focusing on policy advocacy regarding social issues, said he wanted to help students take legal action against their schools.

But some refused for fear of schools taking revenge by not allowing them to graduate, he said.

According to a China National Radio report, teachers from local schools admitted suspending routine classes over the next one or two months. They said the internships were a compulsory course for students to "experience working conditions and promote individual ability," the report said.

The Huai'an Education Bureau said they were aware such programs ran during the summer break but did not know that schools had continued them into the new semester.

An official, who refused to be named, said it was a common practice to send students to renowned companies and factories, something that served the enterprises and expanded students' horizons, he said.

"It's hard for students to find jobs which are precisely related to their majors. Therefore, they are encouraged to go to factories to learn more about society," he said.

However, Wu Dong, a lawyer, said the practice violated higher education laws and labor laws and the schools, education and labor rights authorities and Foxconn could be sued.

Did the Witcher/Witcher 2 have an XBOX360? Because we tried installing that game today and even on lowest settings and resolution it was more like a slideshow <_<;
Since this game is turn based I'm sure you'd be able to play it, Lag isn't quite as important

I suppose they might strangle goblins to death. Personally I think an elite shield bashing squad would be better.

You know sometimes I think a 2megaton nuke detonate over Jerusalem would solve quite a few problems. I mean, Who would want to fight over a charred hellscape of radioactive glass and lazarus zombies?

I started a new character, the first time I've played in months. I breezed all the way through to the undead church, when I then helped people with the gargoyles. Everything was fine for about a half an hour,  then every time I was summoned I got instantly killed by some backflipping asshole with a lighting/fire claymore.

Shit like that is why I quit playing in the first place.
