DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: How many miners do you use?
« on: October 15, 2011, 10:41:08 am »
My oldest fort (only two years in) has three miners. One has been employed from a migrant wave, and my other two are close to Legendary (high/grand masters).

Otherwise, I'd take two miners, and employ 2 or three more from a migrant wave.

Dunno. Can't answer for sure, but no matter what, you'll get wounds that'll cripple your person for life. Other wounds (such as broken bones) will heal with some time.

IDK. I don't use DFusion.

Purchased turtles yield no bones or shells.  You need to butcher an animal a baby to get bones for him.

Fix'd
Really fix'd.

Besides, you can't butcher sentients for meat/bones, let alone YOUR OWN CHILDREN. Children deserve a life, too, you idiot.

You have to wait for them to decay into baby skeletons, then you can butcher them IIRC. Also, he never said baby dwarf. Maybe he just wants to butcher baby puppies. Isn't that much better?
I care not. Puppies can be saved to be trained for war/hunting, and if food requirements are dire, the adults drop much more meat/bones.

'Baby' refers to d0rfen babies. 'Puppy' refers to young dog, 'lamb' to young sheep, etc. So whenever the word 'baby' is used in a butchering post, I ALWAYS think it means the babies of your fort's population.

OK, people, let's forget about this and bring this thread back on the rails. Methinks we've gone TOO FAR with this.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Editing raw so d0rfs can butcher sentient?
« on: October 09, 2011, 07:32:53 am »
1: Why you gotta be all "d0rf"-y?  What's wrong with just dwarves?
2: DF\raw\entity_default.txt  Find ETHICS_BUTCHER/EAT/MAKE_TROPHY_SENTIENT and change to ACCEPTABLE.  This can ONLY be done on a new world, the existing world cannot mod entity attributes.
3: Wars are healthy.
I've tried this and it won't work in adventure mode. What gives?

you can bash skulls in with your fists.
You can do that already in adventure mode.

Though I guess skin of Steel could help a tad bit.

So,I started up my adventurer for the first time in a while and witnessed a hilarious event that I am going to recount with my really poor art skills:

Did that actually happen, or did you just remember that from a fort mode outpost?

So I decide to start a fire on some shrubs while I'm carrying barrels of alcohol. Several turns later, BOOM!!! THE BOOZE EXPLODED. And now all my cloth and wooden crap is burning up, though I'm not catching fire yet.

Edit: WHOOPS. Wrong thread. Sorry, guys.

Who's murdering children?
I meant in-game children. EVERYBODY IS!!! Maybe even YOU! Murderers...

On Topic: I JUST NOW started relocating Dike-Faith's population underground. I can't worry about that at this point.
I have to slaughter kittens in mass quantities to keep my framerate down. It's not my fault...
Butchering cats is perfectly fine with me as long as the butchering is to keep FPS up. It's the gruesome acts done upon CHILDREN which bugs me.

Sorry if I'm de-railing the thread again.

SWEET. Make Obsidian. Lots and lots of Obsidian. Then turn it all into swords.

I'm going to make a non-cheating fort, on a Large world, using Lofn's Wanderer mod. I fiddled a bit with it to make chests, daggers from metal/bone, and other such things. I shall raise fame and gather an army. Then, off to kill the Sand-people I go!

One of my guys is running around frantically, trying to dash his way under a hamlet, to cheat-fast-travel out, because my ex-companion wouldn't move his ass to get out of my way so I could EXIT THE CAVERNS THE WAY WE CAME IN. I hate them...

You know what this means? When you decide to stab the civ in the back, you have some little targets to mutilate, torture and kill.
YES!!! Kill them. And pick up their bodies to cook and consume later.

REMINDER: Nobles are VERY unimportant.
BUGFIX

I want a male peasant, and change his labors to make/use ranged weapons. Have him lead an archer squad once he gains enough experience in shooting a bow+arrow or x-bow+bolts.

Changing the melting point will cause boulders to melt/evaporate when submerged in magma, and any buildings from obsidian or obsidian blocks will be destroyed with magma.  This also means that obsidian floodgates melt, and obsidian farmer's workshop will melt if it happens to be submerged in magma.  Otherwise?  Not much is going to happen.  Walls never melt.
Not yet, at least.
