DF General Discussion / Re: Are Goblins harder now?

Goblins are normal sized and the new healthcare system doesn't help the fatality rate one bit.

DF General Discussion / Re: Dwarf Fortress easier after patch?
« on: April 11, 2010, 11:42:33 pm »
Currently difficulty is all over the place.

1.Goblins bring siege engines again, which is great. 20 trolls showed up to party last siege.
2.Goblins are now normal sized and are much tougher. Dwarves are now effectively crippled in combat, it wasn't uncommon for me to lose 20% of the force every time I fought to injuries and another 30% to infections/bloodloss later on.
3.Megabeasts are broken. They are currently quite weak and are easily killed.
4."Non-organic" megabeasts are currently unkillable barring specialist weaponry. This is a uniform issue, but basically causes entire fortwipes unless you get a lucky string of hits.

Early engineers were spurred on to develop modern drawbridge construction to crush the cat swarms.

True story.

(not)

Interesting thread. I wish I had some tips, but aside from keeping cats to a minimum, I can't say any.

DF Bug Reports / [39f] Military does not clear patrol routes.
« on: August 26, 2008, 12:22:36 am »
As stated, military units maintain their patrol routes in memory regardless of their current unit status.

Let's say you have 4 members, break them up, assign them different routes, then merge them. They will continue to move through their "memorized" routes instead of taking their group leader's route.

This may not matter in light of Army Arc modifications and editions to the current military command, but it exists and I *suppose* should be noted.

You can also import them, but to be frank the chances of a caravan arriving before your crafter goes insane is somewhat low.

DF Gameplay Questions / Is magma still effecting performance?
« on: August 19, 2008, 04:56:38 pm »
A simple question. I'm going for a long haul game and I was curious if magma pools/volcanos have a long term impact on overall fort framerates.

Oh lord, debugging is always death when there's no errorlog.

DF Suggestions / Re: World generation handicap modifier for..stuff
« on: August 03, 2008, 02:36:31 am »
Yes, while the intention is to curtail/help specific creatures, it's not really meant to "fix" existing perceived problems. Toady obviously has his intentions for design and I merely would like to alter the end result to be more pleasing for the user.

So this is the thing. The laptop where I got this project currently got no internet access. There for updates I make will be posted a bit later compared to when they where done, probably without images and file show off.

But it won't kill the project, without internet at home i got nothing else to do but code.
Depending on your zone you could snarf wireless internet from nearby houses. Or, hell, you could go to a public area.

This is all provided you have a wireless card of course.
