DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Holy Crap Minecarts (Devlog Quote)

I was thinking something like that, only with more carts and chaos.
Code: [Select]
/------g------\ Same layout as post above me

I imagine something like this, with the carts loaded full of dwarves wielding all sorts of weapons to murder the goblins while plowing through them.

A sure way to scare invaders away. Well, you know, if they could think.

I get back just in time to see that I died. =/

Well then. Did I at least get in on the giant sparrow murdering? Some day when this town begins to prosper, you will remember me as one of the founders! I will, of course, come back as a zombie to remind you if you don't build a solid gold temple in honour of me when you are able to trade for it.

Pretty please?

Your link back to the first Harvest Dwarf seems a little broken.

Anyhow, the prospect of taking a turn at this fort any time soon isn't looking so good. School's back in full force and I haven't had time to play Dwarf Fortress at all. Still, I wouldn't mind claiming a dwarf. Same requirements as before:
Quote
I'd like a hunter named Kirby. Custom Profession: Dragon Hunter. If there are no hunters, assign a random skill-less (or mostly skill-less) migrant to the profession. I'm sure I'll live for a good month lifetime.

"Beware! It is said that only unknown frozen creature substance harms the creature."

There are many issues with this statement.

Is an awesome idea in any case. Gives me an idea of what I should do with my over 600 bars of gold...

wait untill they show hunger thirst or being sleepy. if they show these then open the exit and allow them into the rest of the fortress. if they do not and are vampires open a hatch below them and drop them into a pit...
inb4 Toady makes it so vampires can fake hunger, thirst, and drowsiness.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Girly Zombie Science
« on: February 16, 2012, 03:24:13 pm »
Don't know if it was sheer coincidence or an intentional feature, but when I embarked at the intersection of two sinister biomes and a haunted one, I only ever got goblin blood rain in each area. I was really hoping to have three different nasty weather conditions plaguing my dwarves. :(

It doesn't matter what killed them if they die in a zombifying biome they become a zombie.
Is there any way to actually know if a biome is zombifying? I've tried numerous terrifying/haunted/sinister areas to no avail.

Gah, no zombies. I'm going to keep trying until I get them.

I, too, have embarked on a terrifying biome. In my experience, I've never gotten the zombies and death and all the other fun stuff to go with it. This one, in fact, seems kinda normal as I got some plain old thrips people and the grass is very green. It's looking up now, though. The ground is completely red with dwarf blood and there are rotten pond turtles chilling out a ways away.

Edit: actually, they're just dead and rotting pond turtles...I...I hope this dwarf blood has no ill effects.

I feel that the release brings a greater purpose ti Valentine's Day, so I'm probably going to remember it for that more than anything. So yeah, DFVD. I like DFUN as well.

Huh, first thing I got was dwarf blood rain. That seriously can't be any good for the starting seven's morals.

edit: DEAR ARMOK THE GROUND

It would be funny if he released it and no one bothers to check because they expect someone else to/can't take the soul-crushing pain felt when there's still no new release.
