Welcome to the world of Create your own dang update Gridhood!

I found that a lot of players really like Gridhood, but the game invariably comes to an unceremonious halt when the GM ceases to update it for whatever arbitrary reason. There have been some 'lazy GM' approaches before where the GM would offload some of the work onto the players, but for some inexplicable reason this did nothing to enchance the game's longevity. This time, instead of half-assing the game, lets try not even doing any percentage of the ass at all and see how that works!

For those who are not in the know, Gridhood is a game where players either take on the role of a God that creates a world, or a civilization that tries to collect food if they are smart, and starves and dies if they are not.

Here is a good example of a previous Gridhood game.
And here is another good example.
And here is another bad example.

In order to retain the purity of the no GM status of the game, I will not be making any other posts in this thread whatsoever, and will not answer any questions about the game. In the event that there is something that you do not understand, either ask another player or use your imagination and figure it out. Its probably a good idea to talk to other players about how game rules should work or something. The most important thing is to have fun, and don't forget to starve!

Here is a blank Gridhood Grid that you can use if you want.

If you would prefer to play a more traditional Gridhood game that does have an active GM as of today, Click here to go to the current Gridhood game that I am GMing.

Few questions:

I see a Sorcery stat, but no actual information on how magic works. Should there be an explanation?
Do players allocate their own stats or does the GM determine that based on their character description?
Also, what is the purpose of Origins? I see a list of them, but no place on the character sheet to choose one.

One way or another, the negotiations with the Department of Mobility and Volition had come to a conclusion. Though it was a bit of a mystery how they were already serving another ticket number despite having only just now formed and not having yet communicated with another other than ANTHEM-314.

ANTHEM-314 then turned its attention to the Department of Mortal Affairs, figuring that it could find some job for them to do. As it happened, a message was recently transmitted via the Heavenly Signal Tower; the first time that a mortal successfully sent a message that reached ANTHEM-314. An impressive feat for a mortal, and one that almost certainly cost them their sanity.

ANTHEM-314 offered a payment in the amount of one Petty act to the Department of Mortal affairs to bring a message to the family of 'Sja-Mem'. This message would come with an explanation of who ANTHEM-314 is, and about how they created a refuge back in the early Cosmogonic Eon underneath the Mountain Range of y7rulspowTvwA7ZAfDkpPQ== which has remained unclaimed to this very day. This location is protected from the ravages of seasons and highly defensible; yet lacks a biosphere capable of supporting complex life. But with the use of plant magic, metal magic and some ingenuity, it may be possible for a tribe to establish themselves there.

With the final Feeble Act, ANTHEM-314 added some security cameras to Starbase ANTEHM-314. This would discourage the increasing population of Angels from causing trouble, or failing that, identifying the ones that do. These cameras are focused outside of the actual workshop spaces; where Angels do not have the authority to be faffing about.

Could I get confirmation on whether I have one or two petty acts right now? I noticed I started the turn with one, which I thought was for Jury Duty, but the 6.5 miniturn implied that I only just got it then.

If I have two, then where did the other one come from?

ANTHEM-314 considers the counteroffer from VERSE-849. It was clear that an Angel was very different from a mere machine regardless of its origins. While a commission was a far cry from straight up ownership of the department, there was no upper limit on how complicated the commission could be in the deal.

"Very well then. I already had some ideas for a Transportation Nexus based around Starbase ANTHEM-314 and the Canvass of Stars, which I shall permit you to view; and give you a final chance to back out of the deal."

ANTHEM-314 looks upon Sornlun(?), feeling a little bit triggered.
Spoiler: Jury Deliberation (click to show/hide)

---

ANTHEM-314 makes an offer to purchase the Department of Mobility and Volution, offering one aligned Ages act, one aligned Machine act, and Workspace 2. All angels currently employed by the Department would be permitted to keep their jobs.

So... Is this game still a thing?

ANTHEM-314 considers the message from "Anyone but Gongon". Attempting to take over a bureau would be a violation of sovereignty. ANTHEM-314 wouldn't tolerate it if someone tried to do that to it without permission. On the other hand, the writer of this note wasn't exactly wrong. ANTHEM-314 had other plans for the VERSES, yet the merits of controlling the Bureau of the Heavenly Mandate were worthy of consideration.

An interesting idea occurred to ANTHEM-314. Instead of going to the trouble of trying to infiltrate the Bureau and violate the sovereignty of another deity, it could do something else instead. It could instead simply try...

"Hey Gongon, I think it would be a good idea for you to grant me Overseeing Deity authority within the Bureau of the Heavenly Mandate. I choose not to explain why in any way whatsoever"

I guess a third god could try to swoop in and attack the gods in conflict to capitalize on the situation. But with the amount of power being thrown around here they would probably need to make a significant organ sacrifice to pull it off. Probably not worth it in my opinion. Or at least that is what I am saying~

ANTHEM-314 Takes note of the movements of Yitterblum and Neobel Eka. It appeared that the Star Wars were nearing their climax. This battle promised to be cataclysmic in scale and there was nothing that could be done to stop it. The machine god casually submits a proposal to the Department of Mortal Affairs; suggesting that they should focus on mitigating the damage to Final Shape as a result of the upcoming conflict of Stars.

ANTHEM-314 considers the situation. Perhaps the upcoming battle represented an opportunity? It sends a message to Neobel Eka with an interesting offer: "It appears that you are about to sacrifice yourself, and I come to you with an offer in this time of discord. I would be interested in inheriting one of your titles, specifically the 'Noble Heritage' title. Is this something you would be willing to part with? I would be willing to offer you an Aligned Act in exchange." ANTHEM-314 appears to been offended somehow.

Using 1 Ages act and 1 Machine act, ANTHEM-314 creates an Angelic host: The VERSES. (Singular- VERSE). The VERSES are a partially ascended mechanical beetle that is 18 inches in length. They are mostly harmless in terms of physical abilities, though they are capable of piloting vehicles and wielding firearms. VERSES are impervious to cold, poison, psionic assaults and radiation and are resistant to heat. They are however, vulnerable to conventional weaponry such as kinetic and explosive weapons. VERSES are capable of flying as well as interstellar travel, but they do so at a slow pace without the aid of a spaceship. They are angels of Order that do not get along well with angles with chaotic tendencies. They are virtually inerrant while in a low stress environment, but need to double-check their work if working conditions are not optimal. If left idle, VERSES have a habit of creating technological devices such as guns, spaceships, and video games. Their naming scheme is "VERSE-" followed by the lowest number not in use by another VERSE. Such as "VERSE-1" or "VERSE-777"

Yaebaech, of the infinite gears

It was time for Yaebaech to do another experiment.

Creation 1: Urgic Evolution System 0017. This is a system that permits Demiurges to evolve and become more powerful. While this system remains in place Demiurges will be awarded 'points' when their creations are destroyed by the Adversary's actions. These points can be used to improve their abilities, such as allowing them to make more creations. These upgrades can persist even after the destruction of Urgic Evolution System 0017.
Creation 2: Duplicactus 0018. This object looks kind of like a cactus, if a cactus was made out of gears. When a Duplicactus is destroyed, two additional Duplicactus appear in a random place in the universe. The two do not end up in the same place.

Interact: Yaebaech will wield Dissimilarity Ray 0012 and shoot at the following things: Some perfectly cooked pancakes, some Lizards, some of the off-brand knockoff Weapons 14, a Diamond Yacht, a couple of Fractabomber mk1s and one bolt is fired at nothing, where it will continue to travel further and further into the distance; technically being a thing that exists.
Protect: Urgic Evolution System 0017.
Destroy: Duplicactus 0018.

ANTHEM-314

"Very good. Henceforth Workspace 1 is now the property of the Department of Mortal Affairs. Your temporary starbase intranet password is 'YcalfUp4kiUWTw5aLwV18rmPvz1WoQ28ygCuoy9ku8E=' which you should change as soon as possible. Once you log in, you will be able to access the backup server. The system will also alert you to attacks on the starbase, radiation leaks, and when someone puts fish in the microwave."

Being in possession of three aligned acts, ANTHEM-314 now has the means to complete his Plane, the Canvass of Stars.

Thus ANTHEM-314 would use one Ages Act, one Machine Act and one Skull Act to create the continent of Historia. This continent consists of a series of small planetoids floating in the Canvass of Stars which appear to be made primarily from petrified bones. Strewn about these planetoids one can find the ruins of starships and piles of scrap metal. The wreckage on each of the planetoids seems to be unique to that particular planetoid; the reason being that each one is themed around an ancient alien civilization that the creators of ANTHEM-314 had encountered in ages long past. Travelling between the planetoids of Historia looks like it would be difficult without some means of Space travel.
