General Discussion / Re: AmeriPol thread
« on: May 24, 2023, 05:58:57 pm »
EDIT: oddly, car fatalities in the US were on a downward trend until we had more ADAS systems, lulling people into a false sense of security.

While I do like rear cameras, I do not like ADAS stuff. I'd consider them pretty different types of features.

Agreed on this though. All the driving assistance features are not necessary IF you already pay attention. Collision warnings, road drift, speed limit notifications....none of that is necessary for a competent driver who is actually paying attention. And frankly, for how much time you have to react I don't feel like those features are really all that useful. The road drift might be useful if you're sleepy at the wheel.....but then again you SHOULDNT be driving in that state anyways.

The ADATS system should help with the shortcomings of the ADAS one

For tomorrow "mystery game" some of the slots machines clues ( link to picture ) are apparently hinting toward a Fallout game tomorrow.

There's only Fallout 3 and Fallout 1/2/Tactics on the epic store, so unless they have a very recent surprise signing with a publisher for a newer Fallout (as some pepple points that a few icons refer to some Fallout New Vegas pictures) , there's then lot of chance it may be again either Fallout 3 or Fallout 1/2/Tactics that both were already given away a few months ago.

In the Rat labyrinth, died dozen of time on the same location despite i knew the correct succession of action to do, but damn fingers not hitting the correct keys due to the stress, not the best controls either (why force to bind up and jump or down and crouch on separate keys, that's not helping me at all on those kind of platforming games :D probably game was designed for joypads )

Oh looks like that's close to fully complete
Quote
Current Status (version 0.66)

Morrowind: 100% of the main Morrowind game has been completed, and is fairly well debugged (details here). There is very little that gets in the way of a complete Morrowind experience.
Tribunal: Main quest is complete and content is 99% complete (some fabricant creature models are not implemented) and playable. Side quests are 100% complete.
Bloodmoon: All quests are complete, including main questline, East Empire Company questline and various side quests.

will have to give it a try.

So far there's no clue for the next mystery game.

From what i read, there's a "leaker" that mentionned that epic was supposed to give away 2 mystery games by week (for a total of 8), but then changed to only 1 for a total of 4 (probably their budget not being as good as they originally thought) and that along Death Stranding the 2nd game should have been "Super Meat Boy Forever"

on gog there's a freebie from 1990 "Fiendish Freddy's Big Top O' Fun" to claim, it's in the multi-event sport genre like old track&field/california games/purple saturn day/etc... but setup in a circus

It's been several years i hadn't heard about it, but it looks like Speed Dreams (an opensource motorsport racing game built on the TORCS engine) is still alive and even released a new version a couple of months ago !
https://www.speed-dreams.net/en/

It sure seem to have improved a lot since i last played it around 2018 from what i see in the video.

Metro Last Light (not the redux version, only the older version with older models and textures oddly despite Redux has been given away on several stores in the past) is free to claim on steam this week.
Apparently it also comes with the DLC (that are included in Redux).
https://store.steampowered.com/app/43160/Metro_Last_Light_Complete_Edition/

Even if the Redux is better visually, it is still a very good game.

This week epic freebie "mystery" game is a bit of a let down (for a mystery game i mean) as it's Death Stranding again (confirming what people guessed)

In Europa Universalis 2 too , huge army were far from unbeatable as it is not uncommon to lose a battle by morale because morale damage isn't related to the army size.
And making a reinforcement system instead of sending all your army at once to face troops of superior number, you could beat an unbeatable massive army by routing it, the system was explained there :
https://eu2.paradoxwikis.com/How_to_Win_Battles

Of course, the main difficulty was to time your reinforcement arrival, as getting a bit too late could mean your previous army was already obliterated and the arriving one would not be numerous enough to resist the serious beating coming its way , also there's an element of randomisation to the combat dice rolls, meaning that you could still be trashed even if you try to make a reinforcement system.
The importance of the "probing" described in the wiki can make all the difference.
