DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Radioactive Tunic

There's an easy way to deal with nobles - put a channel leading into their room filled with water and a floodgate keeping it out hooked up to a lever somewhere out of the way.  put a drainage grate in the center of the room with a lever-operated hatch covering it.  Drown the noble, open the hatch to drain it out (extra dorf points if it's pumped back into the same trap) and be ready for the next mandating-loving noble to reside in.

I might just hook up a bunch of weapon traps to a lever, engage them to wound it, then shut them off.  It can wander around bleeding over the grates.

2628
The problem is; I don't get goblins around Knifemurders.  Worst i get is the occasional Elf siege (Not my fault, for once.  The civ's always hated mine).  There aren't any wild creatures in the caverns either, really.  Killed them all and claimed their territory for deforesting in Cavern 3.  Cavern 2's full of magma (now).  and Cavern 1's sealed off on account of spiders and lots of webs.  That one's on the to-do list.

It's a huge scaly nematode called Lari the Evil Dent

2630
Aaah, i see.  Got any viable alternatives for a trap that will make it bleed, but won't kill it?

2631
he already did that.  He's now That Other Aussie Dwarf and a part of the three new migrants.  I've got 5 uristBucks that say he kills Catalyst before the other migrants can.  Or, that he's nowhere near Catalyst when he gets killed by one of the other migrants.

2632
And then?  Put a cage somewhere in it's line of sight and hope it shoots webs onto it?

Oh, and what i plan to do for the "deadly blood" FB is to put it's crate in a room above the reactor - filled with spinning serrated discs and grates.

He's the manager AND broker.  He does a lot of important things.  If he's going to relax in his room all the time, hook up running water to it (preferably 7/7 through the entire room with an openable drain for easy cleaning)

Now I feel a serious urge to have these hooked to every nobles room.

I do it to the trade depot, myself.  Free goods and I'm (fairly) certain it won't piss off the trading race as it's technically an environmental kill.

Yeah, the z-1 reactor's became something of a secondary well while i was refilling the actual well. There's also a pair of reactors at F7, though one of them's unfilled at the time of the savegame.  Those'll generally get just enough to power the stack.  I'm just about to replace the savegame with one that has the cistern drained, and the injured pulled out of the cistern bottom.

2635
The pumpstack can pull magma OR water.  Go to F8 and check out the main reservoir and it's channel controls.  The base of the pumpstack is cut off from the rest so i can stop the magma intake.  the lever's one level above F3.

oh and the F4 reactor might not be pretty, but it'll pull 3400+ Urists on its own when fully fueled.

Some sort of over-under design's probably the best way to go.  I'm presently carving out a 4th layer underneath, in case a three-layer one cant be thought up/made significantly dwarfy in it's output.  It doesn't HAVE to be efficient, it's for fun.  Throw in an ugly design that requires constant fresh water flowing into it if you have one.  Hell, the savegame's saved looking at the mostly-empty cistern (I'll upload a fresh save once i get the bodies and wounded out of it.  Little mishap in the design of the room above for a potential "deadly blood" FB...)  Turns out grates won't support floors beside them over an empty chasm.  Who knew?

2637
Well lets look at what my dwarf's done - He's avoided the tantrum spiral, helped kill the rebels in the succession war and gotten the mayor branded as a traitor who's probably going to die the moment the migrants get inside - Anyone still think he's not a genius puppetmaster? Or that he actually died?

2638
Catalyst, just a thought;  You might want to check the civilizations of the migrants to make sure they don't stab you in the head the moment they meet you or anything.

deadly blood would work... Try to test it on something like a pet llama, and watch. See if it's worth milking from the fb... Somehow.

I'm building a room comprised of grates and steel blade traps over the reactor chamber.  Oh I'll "milk" it alright...  If i can figure out how to cage it, first.  That's going to be quite a challenge.

edit - Oh happy day, a FB with noxious secretions has turned up (never thought I'd say THAT).  Even better, it's spawned right on the edge of the map between two trees. Anyone able to tell me how to web a cage trap?
