Hmm... With the proper strategy and enough fuel, this decoy idea could work damn well.

Not so much with an AI, but against a human player...

It would only work once, maybe twice, though. A human player would either send a large fleet to eradicate targets in anger, or bunker down on their colony so as to conserve ammo and ships.

If we're going to use this decoy, we have to play smart. We need to make the PDC decoys small enough to take out a few ships then be destroyed, showing we can be defeated, or have a strike force nearby. Possibly, we can even attack their colonies while they have ships distracted.

There are so many possibilities and ways thing could go wrong, we need to prepare for them all.

DAMN IT.

I had to reinstall Aurora after months, and I've already reinstalled it 5 times in a row and keep getting errors, then uninstalling to reinstall again. Argh.

Its weird I keep fucking up the very simple instructions, especially since I installed it successfully the first time, many months ago.

Can someone help me out?

Downloaded install 491, unzipped to a file, then ran setup to install to program files/Aurora, said NO to overwrite files (was a bunch of files, not just two. I may have overwritten them the second time I tried to install, don't remember). Then I unzipped the 491 update to a file, copied the files and pasted them in the Aurora directive (since my computer doesnt let me unzip directly to /Aurora), then I unzipped update 5.50 and copied it to /Aurora, and then ran it.

FAIL. Fucking endless 5465 error or some such number. Last install I got a weird run screen that was missing a lot of info on civ start, like the option for invaders and precursors and such, and the install before that I had a little more info but still a lot missing.

The fuck am I doing wrong? I dont get it... I never had this problem before, and nothing at all has changed.

HALP! Was about to start a new campain too :P

You know what, Aklyon, you're right. If I stay up all night I'm just going to fuck up my plans, make my girl upset, and make my life even MORE difficult.

No use rushing it and half-assing it full of half-asleep mistakes, anyway.

Since I'm not going to work tomorrow, I'm going to try to release the intro tomorrow afternoon when I get back from NYC, while holding back some other stuff to be released gradually.

I realize I was going for way too epic an intro here, actually. >_> It'd be less confusing for everyone if I just intro'd the characters into the basic setting of Kye'raeon village and let you all iron out the social stuff, while I gently nudge you all into the game world.

If I blast you with a page worth of information to soak up, I'll just leave you all as lost as a newborn babe lmao, as well as ruin a lot of fun surprises. :)

Til tomorrow, then!

Gods know I need some sleep. >_> Not sure if I can even sleep, now... I passed out around 9 PM but my girl accidentally woke me up at 11, then I never was able to go back to sleep. About 1:20 AM right now and I'm just listening to music and singing in a low voice so as not to wake anyone up. Huzzah for entertaining yet epic music with three of my favorite artist/bands, Van Canto, Blind Guardian, and the masterly tune by Grave Digger! http://www.youtube.com/user/HarmonyInResonance?feature=mhee#p/f/0/PbzSWcRM9u0

Anyway, time to sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee......

True. I guess its only a difference of difficulty in the beginning or the middle. Either way, you'll hit a hard bump, haha :)

I can't say no, though... Its a personal thing... If someone asks something of me, I can't refuse...

Supernerd made it very clear he/she is unhappy at the length of the RPs hiatus and they're right; I haven't even started the damn thing! I feel really bad for doing all this work and not launching the RP yet. ((you have no idea how much of a headache it is to match all the characters >_> You guys had it right when you decided to do a randomly-generated adventure, its so much more simple.))

I don't want to let you guys down... Y'all are good people, good RPers, and it sucks if I let you down by procrastinating on the RP launch for another week... So, I'm faced with a shitty dilemma...

Edio, get on skype, I'm going to need your help and input please. If I'm going to finish this RP launch, I need to run a few things through someone to make sure I'm not being a dumbass from lack of sleep.

My apologies. I had a few unexpected problems with my life, including my girl being fired and getting very sick this weekend. Sigh. So on top of all my problems, I now have to pay our bills, rent, phones, and everything else all by myself. Both of my cats go sick with some pink-eye-like sickness so I had to spend about 400 dollars to get them the liquid medicine and paste for their eyes, otherwise they could go blind, I couldn't work saturday so thats less money in my pocket and, overall, I had a ridiculously shitty weekend.

I'm going to wake up at 6 AM to escort my girl to New York City for an interview, since she's never been to New York before, and skip work for today. Sigh. Its a gamble, but I'm not about to let her get horrifically lost in NYC.

Since I made a promise, I will instead stay up tonight to make sure I get this RP going.

Agreed. It has a ridiculously steep learning curve that rivals even DF, and much of the gameplay is a vast amount of micromanagement.

Fucking love this game though :)

Nice job!

I hope you aren't talking about the hostage situation.

The raider was all "Bleh, blood begets blood on the wastes. I'm a big mean raider blah blah blah." Then Rob was like "U mad, bro?" Which only served to annoy the raider, who replied "Grr. You are a lair and a cheat. I won't be taking any smack talk from you." Rob was all like "Come at me, bro!" and then shot the raider in the face. Twice. After that the hostage said "Ew! You are icky and mean and have no respect for human life and are Ev4l!!!!!!111!1" despite Rob totally saving her life and all.

...

Did I just write that?

MY EEEEEEEEEEYES!

While you all wait, here's a song from my Fantasy novel that sort of completely reveals the main end-game battle for the novel series, but oh well. Out of context, you won't really know or understand any of it, and besides, the RP takes place many years before any of this comes to fruition. :P The RP takes place sometime during the 2,000 years after the War of the Ascended, before the actual novel series kicks in with all its geopolitical and religious nuttery, inter-dimensional warfare, and galactic invasions. :P The song describes the defeat of the forces of the Abyss by the combined Human, Elvish, Shyk'rar, Dragon, Aeterna, Daemos, and Angelis armies at the base of a legendary citadel where the mortal avatar Apothos was  imprisoned for about 30,000 years.

--- --- ---

Title: The Song of Spiraling Dragons

I call upon the Waters of Oblivion,
To wash away my humanity, and inhumanity;
And reveal unto me what lies {Hidden} beneath the {Waves}.

I gaze into the {Glow of the Divine Flame},
So that it may burn away all traces of impurity;
To separate the deepest solid structure from blackest {Ash}

I sing the {Song} of Dragon’s Whisper,
As it calls unto our forlorn brothers, so far away;
It’s Echoes carried by the {Vessel of the Four Winds}

I stand upon the {Edge of the Great Expanse},
Surrounded by wooded plain and scarred mountain crag;
Remnants of the Ever-Changing {Stone}

I tread along the Path of Contemplation,
With Vessel, Song, Stone and Ash;
Eternal companions along a {Southward Journey}

I lay beneath the Angels’ Pyre,
A Monument to {The Forsaken};
Their {Memories} encased within

I come upon the Tower of Ages,
The final destination of this great journey;
The {Birth of Man’s Ascendancy}

Along the {Spine of Spiraling Dragons},
I climb unhindered through Blackest Legion;
Battered by the grasping Claws of the Abyss

Armed with the Spear of Eternity;
Forged in the Divine Flame and wrought from the Ever-Changing Stone,
Blessed by the Waters of Oblivion and upheld by the Heart of Man,
I stand vigil over the Spirit of Humanity;

As I sing the Song of Dragon’s Whisper along the Path of Contemplation,
The Vessel of the Four Winds guides my every struggling step;
Shielded by the Memories of The Forsaken, my journey reaches finality.

As I gaze into the Eye of Truth, the Heart of Man speaks out from within;
Unlocking the Gates of Harmony and Discord, through which I solemnly walk.

Higher and higher along the Spine of Spiraling Dragons do I climb,
As the Spear of Eternity bathes in the Blood of Fallen ‘Angels’.

Weak and broken, only my Will propels me forward,
Beyond the Trials and limitations of Mortal Flesh,
Beyond the Gates of Harmony and Discord,
Beyond the grasping Claws of the Abyss,
Into the Realm of the Dreamweaver.

My inner demons betray me, here within the Void;
As the eyes of the slain gaze upon me with disdain.
My deepest fears are brought to light, and every weakness exposed;
My Human Vessel is shattered, but my Will and Spirit stand tall.

Bathed in the Blood of Fallen ‘Angels’,
Grasping the Spear of Eternity,
Echoing the Song of Dragons’ Whisper,
The Memories of The Forsaken scream aloud!

Thrown back are the Slain and Tainted,
As Divine Flame spills forth from within me

Unburning, its Light dispels the ghastly apparitions,
Bringing the Final Nightmare to a close

I awake, spear in hand, kneeling upon the ground;
My eyes open, to see the divine battle before me.

Angelis and Daemon, side by side, fighting a common enemy:
The True Enemy, the Abyss, the Nightmare, the Void;
From which Eternal Destruction and Damnation spills forth

All our differences forgotten, ours pasts of suffering forgiven,
at the raising of Horns and the beating of Wings;
In this, our final plight – The call for Justice

The Blessed Wind of Angels’ Wings,
The Redeeming Flames of Daemon’s Soul,
The Sacred Waters of Deepest Oblivion,
Pushed forth from our Hearts, Minds, and Hands

The Two Voices cry out in a single, profound Song;
The interweaving of Chaos and Order,
The adjoining of Darkness and Light,
The restructuring of Harmonic Resonance,
Bringing the Abyss, the Void, The Nightmare, to its final close.

Throughout the Great Expanse is an Echo,
Not unlike a great, raging scream;
Carrying upon the Winds the putrid scent of decaying flesh,
The terrifying sensation of deep and unwilling Fear,
The lingering talons of All-Consuming Rage,
And the final death-throes of That Which Is Not…

And now, all lies silent. The Void… Is no more.
The Great Enemy is Vanquished, and our world has been reborn.

Though greatly scarred, this world has survived the Age of Reckoning,
and emerged victorious in its divine battle against Fear Incarnate.

The Flames become faint, and the Waves retreat,
As the Winds die down and the Earth settles into place.

No longer caged, the world’s many races rejoice;
Singing songs of Victory, Praise, and Justice

“…Our suffering is no more.”

-Written by Gregory J. Struck,
In the words of Vvaryk M. Aurea,
High Commander of the Imperium Arkhan’a,
Descendant of Aarkhan, God of Judgement,
Lord of the Celestial Armies of Daemonas & Angelis;
And Guardian of Humanity

DAMN IT. Apparently, as my girl just informed me, my Fallout Trilogy disc went missing months ago, and I've been lugging around an empty game case for nothing the last 3 times I moved (yes, in the last 3-4 months. Life's been complicated...)

I'm going to have to buy a new copy of the trilogy, but I'm definitely going to beat the damn Fallout tactics game once and for all before I ship out, damn it!

Once I actually post the first damn post, I'd like to post every day or two. I really must apologize for the slow start, I haven't even been working lately while taking care of my Air Force issues. Today is my first day back at work in 2 weeks, and I'm late on all my damn bills. Mega-worried about paying rent and such and actually maintaining my internet connection :\ If I don't get the intro post up today or tomorrow, I'll definitely get it up this weekend. I've had a LOT on my mind these last few weeks and had to postpone all of my writing projects and RPs. (Hence why you all haven't seen me posting in your RPs :P)

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Lost my first fort
« on: September 30, 2011, 11:15:54 am »
Oddly enough, after spending 2 weeks reading all the wikis, spending an hour designating precisely-designed multi-level fortress plans, carefully selecting what to bring with my embark, being sure to choose starting skills according to a characters' likes and dislikes, my first fort died from a mixture of hole in the ceeling because of ponds, and dehydration.

...Took me about 5 sudden, lost forts before I realized the whole reason everyone was tantruming into oblivion was because I ran out of what I thought was plentiful alcohol, never set up a still, and dwarves REALLY don't like drinking water.

After that, I always abandoned forts after a year or two because of faulty designs, lack of weapons-grade materials, or really bad stairwell designs. Note to self: don't build an entire fortress centered around a single central staircase going down 15 levels. All it takes is 1 creature and the entire fortress goes "HOLY SHIT ITS A BADGER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" and spam cancel to death.

Thankfully, I've played about 2 dozen games now, and mastered embarks. My one issue now is continuity. I spend a massive amount of pointless, redundant effort and time building fractal designs and perfectly symmetrical levels only to abandon because its been 3 years and I still haven't been sieged or hit by a forgotten beast. I've NEVER found a FB in all my 24 games, although I found and captured a minotaur in one of my last games.

I know theres an option on the galactic map to keep your men out of a given system, not sure if civvies respect that though.
