So mass drivers don't bombard planets without MDs anymore? o_O

I do agree that we get the hell away, but first we need to make sure they're not going to nuke our homeworld ANYWAY, and we have nothing left.

Get the tech, fortify, and haul ass.

All the bats are wooden? Maybe add some metal ones in? Maybe a little more damage?

Higher damage but less to-hit bonus since its harder to wield, and possibly a slight sound emitted upon the sickening metallic crack of undead skull matter ;)

I actually agree that the jump tech isn't very useful at this point. We need to focus on defenses and ship production, otherwise we'll be, in a pseudo-historic American setting, try to invade Africa while Russia or Japan invades us from behind. No, that was not an intended pun.

Build your infrastructure, secure your surroundings, and THEN go for exploration/expansion.

If we get solid defenses, they can throw the entire god damned world at us to no avail. Then, we can expand.

Btw, make sure we're not susceptible to planetary bombardment via mineral ores... :P

Well, ain't I a gun-totin' hard-ass? LOL...

If possible, I wouldn't mind heading out to 'scavenge' for resources in a local apartment building. Just make sure to pull me out as soon as someone gets suspicious, I don't need to put a bullet in someone's skull and ruin our reputation, or incur the wrath of the Conservative Death Squads.[I do it in my own game as soon as I start and easily make 2-5 thousand cash EACH TRIP from everything I loot, as long as I'm careful.)

if I have a team member who has sneaking and/or lockpicking, that'll be helpful. Disguise is a plus, if we have police outfits or some such.

Please equip my partner if possible. I'd like to have backup in case the shit hits the fan, preferably armed with a high-caliber pistol, shotgun, or rifle. I would like to recruit gun-savvy fighters for future assassination missions, hehehe...

What is an Oort Cloud, anyway? I used to know but for some reason I'm drawing a complete blank. Something gravitational I think. *shrug*

What's the point of checking out the Oort Cloud in-game?

I somehow made my way halfway through the town to a street with a grocery store and two hardware stores, found a shovel, and entrenched my way around the store. I looted the nearby houses and the grocery store, and got bored after getting sieged by three dozen zombies who died in my trenches.

I go to sleep in the safety of the entrenched hardware store and I wake up a bit later being beaten over the head by one of TWO NECROMANCERS. The fuck!? I cap one in the skull pointblank for massive damage and he dies, while the other one crashes through the western window... Where the front door is, and only two lines of trenches are. Shhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! I run right for the door and bolt through, to be accosted by a spitter, a boomer, 4 zombies, a skeleton, and the other necro. I quickly lay down a line of 2-wide trenches and they all get caught in it, but the damn necromancer WON'T BLOODY DIE! I pull out my pistol and empty three clips into the fucker from 3-4 tiles away, and my flashlight battery then dies. Next thing I know, I've got boomer bile on me and I'm blind. I quickly round the corner and nearly fall into a trench, gain my sight back, and go back to kill the fucker. He. Just. Won't DIE.

I run next door into the grocery store and all seems well. I loot it, eat and drink, and spend  5-6 hours getting my cooking and mechanics skills up to level 3 via books. I then get bored and decide to set the place on fire. I set ONE DAMN TILE on fire and all of a sudden the whole fucking neighborhood is at the front door. I set 4 more fires to mask my scent and cover my tracks and make the stupid mistake of going through the front door. BOOM, Boomer bombs me, shocker nearly blows my head off, and I'm getting chased by the horde all over again.

I lay down some trenches but I'm damaged so I take too long... I decide to haul ass and seek safety... I decide to, since I'm about to die anyway, install an energy-saver CBM for the hell of it.

...I apparently damaged my genetic code upon installation and contracted two 'conditions'. The first is 'Quick'. Wait, what? WOO! The second is... Fangs...? Hmm. So I fucked up a cyborg installation and turned into a super-fast vampire? F- YEAH! I now have fleet-footed, quick, and fangs, a pretty badass combo if I ever stop beating zombies with a sledgehammer, shovel, or shooting their brains out, and figure out how exactly to activate the fang attack.

I haul ass and try to escape the horde, seeking shelter in a house to the south of the reinforced hardware store.

My laptop crashed, NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO! I reload the autosave which oddly enough left me a few tiles north of where I was shooting the necromancer in the trench, and proceeded to haul ass to safety.

Had to save and run back to work, as I was 15 minutes too long into my lunch break. Oops. >_> When I reload I'm either going to be horrifically lucky or really fucking screwed...

Time to use those 3 molotovs I made and empty a few pistol clips. ;)

Oddly enough, I haven't had even ONE gun-related skill-up o_o. Melee either. Hmm.

Aye, Cataclysm is currently my #1 Roguelike. I play it more than all my other computers games, and its because of Cataclysm, DF and SS13 that I haven't touched my PS 3 in months, gave away my X-box & 360, gave away a used PS3 I was repairing, and spend all my spare time on my laptop.

Your imagination and innovation has given me more to do and feel than any graphical game could ever give me, not counting Final Fantasy of course ;) Elder Scrolls and FF are the only reasons I even have console systems, haha.

I am also living paycheck to paycheck, but I've been trying to save up to buy a new computer(for like 3 years now, but whatever I save goes to bills when I have emergencies hehe)... I'd like to donate a bit when I get the chance, and I definitely will. :)

I only have one request, and I believe in my heart that everyone will agree with me on this. NEVER stop making Cataclysm for your own entertainment and for the wonder of experimentation, fun, and programming. Every game I've ever loved was ruined by programmers who got a taste of cash and then became money-hungry. Same goes for bands, actors, and everyone else.

I believe in you, Whales, and know you're a good man. Keep up the great work, and never stop doing what you're doing :D

tl:dr:

Please don't go the way of Minecraft. Thank you. Lol

No, I didn't press a button. I don't thi... Oh shit. I did.

I assumed it was a weird way of turning on the lighter, like on a button-press lighter rather than one of those circular-spin zippos and such. Fuuuuuck.

So I had a bomb on me? Then how did I die if I still have the bomb intact? TWO bombs, or a bug?

You dont really read a playboy, you read it and it gives you happiness, you dont get a text. Its only skill books like mechanics, shooting, electronics, etc, that give text.

SOMEONE TEST THIS OUT.

Be in a one-square wide room, glass on all sides, roof of glass, in a tower a few levels high. Look straight at one and look away, see how close they can get and if they can teleport up to you. I'd add a block of ledge all around to see how far their tele-ing goes, and if they'll only tele on ground level.

THERE MUST BE !!SCIENCE!! CONDUCTED UPON THEIR BEHAVIOR!

Hahaha!

I wonder if they can take apart your house o_O Can they move stone blocks?

I wonder if their AI will ever have them build any creepy temple-mound Cthulhu-esque shapes.

Or maybe he posted that and went on to get stabbed to death by some asshole?
Or Maybe the games name was teally Real Life
What? You've never heard of the MMO with over 7 billion subscribers, an entire world to explore, thousands of skills to learn, nearly infinite class combinations, and perma-death?

I've obviously been playing way too many MUDs, I've never heard of it either.

Since you can totally avoid them, they shouldn't be weak, unless you make a dumb move and go face to face with one.

I wonder if they could have creeper pathfinding so you round a corner or in a cave and come face to face like the weeping angels, only to be stuck without being able to look away, hahaha

Bloody hell I can just imagine, you look at one and 5-6 slowly and creepily turn to stare at you. Lose eye contact with the one and they all rush yo- WTFPWNOMGWTFHOREYSHEET
