DF Suggestions / Re: Attacking youself?

Maybe this could be added to dwarf mode? For when a dwarf gets really depressed.

If I remember correctly, melancholic dwarves actually seek ways to commit a suicide. They may jump off from a cliffs or into the magma or water.

Well, I once became a notorious villain and slayed tons of leaders, when I came across a Mancer mansion (Necro-tower :P) They didn't attack me and I was able to talk and receive quests from them.

Were you a vampire/necro/werebeast? What species? Modded or not?

Somehow I don't believe that you can get friendly with normally-evil factions by killing the opposite faction, at least in current release. Necromancers aren't even entities, right? They are just individual guys in the tower with no real policy with outside world.

Harpies are small, annoying birds. Basic combat skills and weapon are enough to kill it easily.

Now I want a Batman Age so badly.
It's not that hard to do. It just requires a lot of dedication.
Just fiddle around with world gen parameters a bit until you get a world without any surviving civilization.
Then make an outsider adventurer, go to a cave and search the underground for some batmen.

Only problem is to actually find anything from the caverns... Even with AdvFort and DFhack reveal, searching a batman from underground is like searching a sober dwarf. Hard, that is.

I'll have to make either bigger walls or bigger moats. One-tile wall won't hold them anymore.

I once had an evil desert surrounded with mountains and volcanoes. There were a lot of goblin towers. I had to create an adventurer just to simply walk into Mordor.

Game creates werecreatures randomly. There can be werechameleons, werecamels or even wererabbits.

You can survive just fine by dodging. Since you won't be slowed down by armour, you can dodge even more effectively than otherwise. This, however, conflicts with your weapon-of-choice, two-handed sword. I'd take a naked elf (speed and agility boost) with a shield and spear and dance around the enemies, stabbing them until they bleed to death. Swords are fine, too, but you should try to minimize the weight you're carrying.

If you really want to go with berserker adventurer, dwarf would be an obvious choice due martial trances. You'll need awesome willpower, toughness and endurance. Grind your attributes and abilities by letting something relatively weak hit you continuously - for example, kill all bandits but one, disarm him and then let him hit you whole night. Set "wait" button to "immediate repeat" from key bindings.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Blind hammer squad?

I forgot who it was, but some time ago there was someone actively advertizing the removal of eyeballs from all civilians.

Due to the fact that blind dwarfs can still flawlessly find bedrooms, workshops, food and drink, it's been concluded that most of the sensory input comes through the beard.

Which brings us to the next question...

Is it possible to remove the beard?

When I first saw that picture, my first thought was "Let's create natural lava fall".

DF Suggestions / Re: Civilian combat options

I'd prefer dwarves thinking rationally and according their abilities and personality. For example, if ten dwarves see a lone kobold thief, they all probably won't freak out (since there are much more dwarfs) and brave ones would even try to fight.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Genesis Reborn - Adventure wise?
« on: December 27, 2013, 06:24:43 am »
I think Genesis as mostly adventure mode mod. It has enchanced basically everything from items to conversations. The best things, however, are advfort and companion ordering thing.

Backbacks, barrels and buckets can also be filled with water.

Even easier way: wait till all villagers sleep. Then slaughter them. It takes only one hit per villager, and they can't respond or wake up.

Go either 100% light dodger or 100% armoured tank. Anything between isn't enough. Armor affects enormously to dodging, since it's taken from agility and speed, and armor usually slows characters down enormously. With more weight you have less time to dodge and less time to strike. Good armor using skill helps to negate this effect.

I'd pair a bow with shield and when entering to melee, (r)emove sword from your backpack to your hand. You could also drop your bow after that. Removing doesen't take ticks to do, and that way you can have sword, bow and shield same time.

Short swords and scimitars are really just for roleplaying. Currently there is no much difference between weights of swords, and you can wield two-handed sword with one hand just fine.

Sneaking skill will be your top priority, among with dodging, shield using and archery. Good tactic is to sneak around, shoot while undetected, take sword and finish wounded opponents off.

If your aim is to be as light as can be, play with elf and drop your backpack always before a fight. I've slaughtered succesfully everything with naked elf-maiden by sneaking and shooting, and then cutting throats with secondary weapon.
