Channel out a checkerboard pattern in front of the wall-to-be-broken. With a chamber underneath, the lava will slow enough for the dwarf to escape. Make sure you break the lava wall by channeling.

Well, i'm at work, so i wont be looking at your save. But i can tell you what I do after building a trap gauntlet, providing for all my dwarves needs, smoothing and engraving, training a military, and building bedrooms for everyone.

 8) +Megaproject+ 8)

All my freeloading dwarves are made masons, and told to build a tower. A tower made of expensive stone, or perhaps iron. Pave the floors with certain color stones. Make patterns. This tower usually serves a function. Is it perched over the meeting hall, held up by a single support? Is the uppermost room the tomb of your greatest hero? Both? In this case, place the lever somewhere completely accessible to an angry dwarf.  Maybe at the top of the tower could be a dwarven-bridgeapult. See how far you can launch unwanted babies. Or multiple babies. Props if they are on fire before launch. Double props if you manage to land them in a pit of helmet snakes. Perhaps you could create a series of pits, arranged as an archery target, with progressively more dangerous creatures as you get closer to the bullseye? Score yourself based on where they land. Actually, I'll get back to you. I've got dorfing to do.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: dwarven vampire babies
« on: October 20, 2012, 01:13:09 pm »
The real question is whether the baby will grow up? Do vampire children become adults?

Futhermore, will it be able to fight off disarmed goblins with its enhanced abilities if forced to? These are the important things to know.

Gro-Undy attacks the mushroom's stem with his axe, while shouting obsceneties relating to its parentage.

"Gro-undy not trust mushrooms!!!"

I agree. Awareness of of mind, and visions. the ability to interact more directly with our villagers would be invaluable.

If its the first time, he will probably be fine. the thought isnt bad enof for him to wig out by itself.

Alternatively, create a death pit. Chain him to a post, and release unarmed goblins / wild animals / zombies one at a time into his pit chamber, and see how long he lasts. Chain his family members to safe chains to watch. worst case, he gets torn apart while his family watches. Best case, he spends the rest of his life as a legendary wrestler, and dies of infection a year before he maxes out of old age.

Gro-Undy adopts a thoughtful, introspective look. He stomps up to the statue, and examines the depression made by the gem.

"About one inch, talking rock thing." He says respectfully.

Look guys, all I meant was that:

a: Game publishers nowadays are far, far more concerned with sales than they used to be, to the final
    product's detriment.

b: I have heard too many early-dev promises that never happen. This whole thing sounds too good to be
true, and based on previous experience, some or many of these features are not going to happen.

c: My sole return for my investment is going to be "fun". I am not guaranteed fun. It is like paying for a
crate of apples at the grocery store, but the crate may or may not contain angry bees. I have had bees
in the crate before. I have had apples before. What is in this crate? It's not my money back if it
happens to be bees, I can tell you that.

My rant is shamed by my mistypes.

Spore was not direct lies, from my remembrance. It was however, deliberately over hyped. Spore was not some kind of universe spanning mega life sim. It was a creature creator. The five ages or whatever you call them (cell, space etc.) were more akin to a collection of flash games than something i would expect form a professional developer. The creature mode was the only one that felt like any attention had been given to it. Peter Molyneux is not an expert game developer, he is an expert marketer and nothing more.
