I'm sure he'll be fine. :)

Nah, by this age they don't do that as much. They still try to find ways to avoid bedtime, but they at least don't actively rage against the concept as a general rule.

Closing their eyes is obviously a trick that you're pulling to get them to miss out on undisclosed cool grown up stuff, they ain't gonna fall for that. Instead, they must stay awake and warble loudly.

I'm afraid of wasps because they fucking sting me even if I'm not bothering them. Fuck wasps.

My little guy is having his very first day of first grade today. I am very proud and also apprehensive.

Also, he overcame SO MANY SENSORY DIFFICULTIES the last few week of summer (He has autism, and that's part of it for him). We have season passes to a local theme park, but his auditory and motion sensitivity made it impossible for him to ride almost everything. On top of that, one of his big 6-year-old obsessions is roller casters and rides. He watches videos constantly about them, so he was sorta anxious and sad about not being able to.

But, he screwed himself up and started riding some of the small ones and worked his way up to DRIVING A GODDAM GO KART BY HIMSELF on the  last day of summer. Big proud dad vibes.

Both are technically true, IMO. Nepotism is, by its most literal definition, favoring someone you have a previous relationship with for hiring. It is not, however, an intrinsically negative concept.

But, as in my wall of text, most applicants are not equal. Nepotism is usually used (quite correctly) to refer to cases of unfair hiring, especially in federal/state positions. It's still shitty to use it as a blanket term to hate on people who got helped out by a friend to get a job they were fully qualified for, and for which the prior relationship was an indicator of further qualification. Having proved firsthand in the past to a potential employer that you are trustworthy/personable/skilled/etc is in fact a legitimate merit.

Whoever said this isn't meant for the WTF thread is right though, my bad.

Spiders are deadly poisonous depending on locale.

Outside of like 2 species snakes here are a cutesy joke, but some humans are still hardwired to fear the danger noodle.

The goat should read it first. They are our cannon fodder, remember?

+1 Who needs armour when we have an army of goats.

+1 Absolutely send the goat to read and/or collect the tablet.

Huh. I never noticed this, and can't say whether I've experienced it or not. I've always assigned planter dwarves to other duties as well. I usually keep overlarge seed piles, so maybe that's why.

I do some hiring in the US, so imma go ahead and do an [exposition]. Tis' firmly in the realm of opinion.

Nepotism in the US isn't a problem because someone hired someone they are already familiar with outside of the workplace. It's a problem when someone hires someone because they are familiar with them outside of the workplace, or as a priority over their actual qualifications.

If I have candidate A candidate B, and they both have the *same qualifications, and I have worked with B in the past or have a solid pre-existing relationship with them that leads me to believe they would be trustworthy/competent in that role, I am going with B. That's not corruption, that's common fukkin' sense. Firsthand experience with a candidate is a legitimate qualification. You can say that it's somehow unfair that B has an advantage, but the other way would be to deny B a job because I know them. That's ass too. In this case it's equally shitty to say that B only got a job because they knew someone, despite their qualifications.

Note: That's a common shitty reaction to women being hired for leadership roles. Clearly they only got hired because they know someone, somewhere.

Elves can bring some cool stuff to trade:

Liquid darkness canira strings
It is made from liquid darkness cloth.
The canira strings vibrate, causing the instrument to produce sound.

If you hear the strings whisper about the outer dark and a deep and insatiable hunger for mortal souls, just strum in time!

I'll just say I don't hate mayonnaise, it's just the thought of putting it on noodles sounds nasty.
Very late, but it's ramen so it gets mixed into the water alongside the spices. It's very tasty. Don't knock it till you try it!
Telling me that it's watered down mayonnaise doesn't make it any more appealing, if I ever decide to try something like that I'll drain the water.
But the spicy water is tasty! I always slurp it down.
Yeah, but not with mayo.
Don't knock it till you try it.
If your so adamant it's good I might try it at some point.
I have nothing to add to this. Lets summon The Toad and see what happens!
You are unlikely to summon the Toad when the nesting quotes are actually relevant.

Currently watching Sandman on Netflix, will now have headcanon that their original intent was to summon and trap the Toad, not Dream.
