My point is, if you break a fractal pattern into smaller pieces, you're left with two pieces identical to the first. Hence, when using a real fractal object, one must wonder whether said object can be affected similarly to a normal one. If you crush a fractal rock, do you get fractal sand, or do you still have a fractal rock?

What does a fractal rock taste like, anyway? Does it short out your taste buds?

Yeah, but Earth is even more basic, and can be said to include it. Also, depending on your base mythos, Fire and Light can be different forms of the same element. It's pretty common, really (see: Four Elements, Ayleid Mythology).
