A bear ripped off a colonist's neck earlier.  A little bit later I ordered someone to gather up the bodies (this was a particularly annoying bear) and I noticed that the character sprite was missing a head.  Impressive attention to detail there.

One of my haulers got attacked by a hungry bear.  Noone was near enough to respond in time to save the poor soul but the other hauler got there in time to shoot it with her SMG while the bear was devouring the corpse.  The bear responded by running up to her and ripping her neck off with a single attack from full health.

I retaliated by mortaring the hell out of it.  Fuck bears.

The map spawned with an insect nest in a nearby cave.  I harvested the jelly for a little bit but the micromanagyness of it ended up feeling like too much trouble so I was thinking of how to get rid of it.  Then an opportunity showed itself.  Involving an entrance to the hive caves I had not fully walled off yet and a certain very dangerous carnivore that was also very likely to cause issues in the future.

After a little bit of waiting and a timed walling off of an entrance both problems solved themselves.

Spoiler: image (click to show/hide)

Why solve with bullets what can be solved with 2 tiles of quickly built steel wall?

Its because our reality is actually spiraling out of control inside an inter-dimensional black hole that we long since passed the event horizon of.   The vr headset is sensitive enough to detect the acceleration.  SO in reality, Your VR headset is actually a window into the secrets of the universe and our inevitable demise as the entire known universe is slowly being compressed down into the size of a small moon.  Don't worry, it will become far more noticeable in about a week as we move closer and closer to the center of mass.

That or the calibration is off.  But it's probably the first one.

Tried to switch over from Nexus Mod Manager to Mod Organizer.  Instead broke everything, seemingly irreversibly.   Not only do the saves seem to be completely broken (t-poses, npcs seemingly lost their AIS, animations not playing), even in new games characters are getting massive texture errors on their bodies, (may or may not have had to do with me hand modifying CBBE textures to be 'clean' after failing to find a clean version, not 100% certain, but it worked before the move), and apparently FNIS a program that allows custom killmove animations and such just straight up does not work with Mod organizer, despite mod organizer saying otherwise.

Welp so much for those saves.  Here's hoping a full 100% reinstall at least gets vanilla working again.

Not as important as a missing forum poster, but my job only posts schedules for the next week on the last day of the previous week 6 hours before close.  I DO get to see a preliminary schedule, but I am always told not to treat it as final and to call.

I forgot to call yesterday because it was mom's birthday and I was buzy with that, today is the first day of the new schedule week.  Preliminary schedule showed me as off today, and I'm typically not scheduled til after 3pm anyway but no one is answering the phone when I call to check it (tried 4 times now 15 minutes apart), and it's getting to the point where If I'm coming into work I need to be getting into uniform and leaving now.

I really need to learn how to mod in custom races.  This game is so much more interesting with Argonians and some fox people whose name I forget but there just seems to be so few race mods.  I love the diversity, and I would think I'd find at least the basic dwarves elves orcs and whatnot.  And maybe even a few of those races I always find in other games like Avali or Sergal but nope, nothing.  Hell the avali background of needing bionics just to survive outside their homeworld actually has a system in place for it in Rimworld, unlike Starbound.

Is it just particularly hard to mod races in rimworld or something?

Greiger, I need you to link me immediately to any news whatsoever that shows Squeenix is remaking Chrono Trigger in any capacity. I need proof before I get excited, because if I do that and this is some kind of cruel rumor I will be compelled to commit seppuku using the shattered remains of my sense of hope.

Thanks muchly.

Also, I don't care who Nuffle, Kormir, Paladine, and Talos are if they can make a new Chrono Trigger. They could be the literal four horsemen of the apocalypse and so long as they let me finish New CT before it all burns I'm fine with that.
Don't get too excited yet, I heard it secondhand, and even then it's only under consideration.

Kormir is a goddess in Guild Wars 2, and apperantly a main character in Guild Wars 1 before she attained godhood. Paladine who I may have spelled incorrectly is a god in the dragonlance universe. Jesus is some random dude from Mexico.

EDIT: Only source of info I could find myself, though it is indeed very recent. http://comicbook.com/gaming/2017/12/11/square-enix-final-fantasy-nintendo-switch/

Further edit, and after asking my source, he linked me these.

Speaking of Chrono trigger I hear Squeenix is consitering remaking FF6 and Chrono Trigger because the Secret of Mana remake worked so well.

That is my WTF.  Secret of mana is a bit of a cult classic but surely they know that if they remake those two games in particular it would have to be programmed by Jesus, Armok, Nuffle, Kormir, Paladine, AND Talos all at the same time and compiled from a NASA supercomputer from the distant future to not be systematically taken apart and destroyed by their fanbase right?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a modern remake of those titles, but the hype would be so explosive no bomb shelter would be safe.

I think the only game I ever legit 100%ed was Final Fantasy Tactics.(lv 99 all characters, all jobs mastered, have all monsters, completed all optional side content, including Cloud Strife and found his buster sword)  Probably not that hard really compared to other games.

Posting to watch, and just a little comment.

I like science. I consider myself more scientifically minded than the average middle class american, and can usually keep up with forum posts and the odd science magazine or casual conversation involving engineering, biology, chemistry and a bit of physics.

But leave it to bay 12 for me to skip to a few pages before the end of a thread to be up to my neck in diagrams, relativity, what I assume is theoretical physics, and the word 'in-vitro'.  I am confident if I watch this tread and read a few posts every day I might learn something.  :D

Well it may not be the best answer, when I was working on my AS degree I actually ended up doing a one semester on, one semester off deal.  Though I was also working full time while I was in college(part time) and was self pay so I didn't have grants or loans to worry about.

Probably why it took me 4 times as long to get my degree as it should have, but if you have employment to keep you from simply freeloading at home, and don't have loans or grants to worry about that may help assuming noone else has a better solution.  While I ultimately regret that degree(I should have gone into biology or something instead of oversaturated as hell computers) I don't think I would have gotten it at all if I tried to do it all at once like my parents and the school wanted me to do.

Learned a valuable lesson.  You may basically be a technological god compared to everyone in the galaxy, with everyone but the fallen empire's tech level being listed as inferior, and some pathetic.  It does not mean shit if you don't have fleet capacity.

I learned this lesson hard when I decided to prevent an opponent's fleet from taking one of my planets by blockading the hyperlane leading to it before the transports could get there.  Only to encounter my opponent's ally's fleet that was 4x my fleet's strength.  Gamma lazers, ion disruptors, zero point power, advanced shields and battleships won't save you from about a million corvettes and destroyers with blue lazers and deflectors it seems.

P.S. I had an ally too, but their fleet strength was even lower than mine, technologically inferior to me, and had to fly through all of my space before even reaching the front line.

Stellaris.
