General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O

Hey, TV, where is my sound? I have been using my tv for ages to watch stuff on youtube etc by connecting it to my computer via HDMI-DVI. It always worked fine but recently, sound stopped working. I can't even activate my TV as my primary sound anymore, the option is greyed out and it says I must connect a separate audio cable. The fuck? It worked just fine a month ago but now it's like noooope.

Shit probably some shitty driver issues again.

Life Advice / Re: How do you brush your hair well?
« on: September 21, 2013, 05:05:59 am »
I used to have long hair and for me it was pretty easy keeping it straight with just a comb and only washing the hair every other day. My biggest issue was GETTING long hair because my hair possesses the power of anti-gravity. I have like natural guido hair making it stand straight fucking up until it gets pretty damn long (as in if I just grow a few cm of hair it will stand straight the fuck up and it is uncanny as hell). I've been thinking about growing my hair out again but I just wish I could skip that middle step :p

Now this is some good video game music. I had almost forgotten how awesome it was.

Grim Fandango OST

Works fine on Win 7.

Linux Mint, why must you have the same issue with showing my battery life as Ubuntu had? No the battery charge is not 0% it is most assuredly >0%. And no the battery charge is not 0% and uncharging while it is plugged in either...

More annoyingly all the solutions I can find are either old and don't do anything or so bloody complex I just end up trying to write 'sudo hold_me_while_I_cry_in_a_corner' instead.

Beat Saints Row IV today, probably the most actual simple FUN I've had in a game in a long time. It went full dumbass and had some of the silliest things I have seen in a game, and yet, everything worked together.

Only sad part is

I heard that people on the internets liked this game on xbox atleast so I'll keep an eye open, I am certainly waiting for mouse and keyboard support though.

Oh yeah if anyone has played it I do have a question that is kind of a deal breaker. Does it have special infected? Cause to be frank, I am sick and tired of special infected.

Mugen should be at Evo as a ladder game using the characters from Salty Bet. The contestants have to play "vanilla" characters and fight up the ladder.

First fight: Omega Tiger Woods
Second Fight: Baby Bonnie Hood
Third Fight: Evil Dan
Fourth Fight: Rare Akuma
Boss Fight: Dark Donald

If you beat them all you win all the trophies, even for the other fighting games. Even the ones other people already won.

Life Advice / Re: Planning a Trip to Ireland
« on: September 18, 2013, 01:03:11 am »
I have only been to Dublin but there are some things there I would recommend.

1) Go by Temple Bar, don't bother spending too much time there, it is an obvious tourist trap but it's nice to have been there at least.
2) Go to the Guinness Museum, it is... unique. The only museum I have ever been to where they gave us beer. Twice.
3) Take the train out to Howth (just half an hour or so and the trains are cheap) and walk along the seashore, it is beautiful and there are a lot of really good restaurants that cook up fresh fish.
4) My favourite place to drink and listen to music to at night was O'Donoghues. (The place the Dubliners first became famous).
5) Visit the Trinity College and look at the Book of Kells, if you like old style over the top fancy books it is probably the fanciest I have seen. The old library of the Trinity College is quite impressive as well.
6) If you are interested in some history, you could go to something like the Glasnevin Museum. I also recommend taking a stroll to the Garden of Remembrance.
7) Catch a dinner show at the Arlington Hotel* (they have shows every night and in my opinion the week-day shows are better than the week-end ones). You get some good irish music and at least when I was there, some River Dancing from Celtic Rhytm.

*The one by the Liffey.

That is all I can think of for now.

Life Advice / Re: I learned Basic c and some assembler...what now?

So what i am asking the massive community of programmers on bay12 is what should i do next with my knowledge or where can i acquire more knowledge(especially for OS-less enviroments) or what i should do as i am genuinley clueless on what to do next.

Thanks for reading.

Buy a microcontroller, decide on something silly you want it to do, put your nose in the documentation and go ham?

Because steampunk = sticking extraneous gears and pipes on things.

The aesthetics of steampunk? Yeah that is what I think of at least. Lots of cogs, lots of brass, lots of brown and maybe a dash of the victorian era. And as we all know, my definition of things is the only one that matters :) Also they are cute so shush.
