Screw everything, the game of thrones mod is awesome. I can even play as a wildling, pretty hard to keep order as a wildling though, everybody hates me. The black watch hates me, the kingdoms south of the wall hates me, the other wildlings hates me, my wife and son hates me. This will be glorious :D

There's also a Norse mod that was meant to be pretty good but I couldn't be bothered finding it.

Trust in Asarna I see. Thank you!

I wish I could play as a pagan in this, and that the pagans were as fleshed out as the christians and muslims. I want to go Viking Revival on those european asses.

I still prefer GalCiv2 to the other 4X'es out there. Other than the needless 'humour' it is in my opinion far better than say Endless Space.

EYE. The story in that game makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I had no idea what was going on, I had no idea who I was, I had no idea who my enemies were or why I should care. I imagine the process for creating the story for that game went something like this.

Step 1: Think up a dystopian cyberpunk story heavily influenced by the inquisition from WH40k and write it down.
Step 2: Swap every third word from the beginning with every third word from the end.
Step 3: Shred every fifth page of the story.
Step 4: Remove all bindings and pour the remaining papers onto the floor.
Step 5: Slather glue on the papers.
Step 6: Have a dog roll around on the papers.
Step 7: Shave the dog and take the papers and rebind them in whatever order they are in.
Step 8: Run the story through badtranslator seven times.
Step 9: Make it into a game.

Sums it up pretty well. It is fairly fun if you don't try to understand any of it though. Awful game design, muddy graphics, but fun combat.

I'll give it that, it had some fairly interesting mechanics, the whole hacking thing and all. It could have been more fleshed out and polished but the gameplay wasn't that bad. It just made no sense why I was doing anything that I was doing, or even what that thing I was doing actually was.

I think this game feels like it was based on a book or something because when I was playing it I couldn't help but think I should have known more about the world than I did. It's like a for-fans-of-a-book adaptation that forgot to have the book it was based on :p

If you are using steam you can use that to take multiple screenshots. Otherwise FRAPS can do it amongst others.

DF General Discussion / Re: how did you learn dwarf fortress
« on: July 19, 2012, 08:11:17 am »
I still consider myself to be learning but how I learned how to play without tearing my hair in frustration was by watching some youtube tutorial on the basics, and then playing, a ton. All the while looking stuff up on the wiki or asking about specifics on these fora. I tried to set a goal of learning something new every embark, like: This embark I will learn how to farm, this embark I will learn how the military works, this embark I will learn how levers and stuff work etc.

If I had been the one choosing names for the Fable series.

Fable 1: Running down linear paths edition.

Fable 2: The I didn't play this one cut.

Fable 3: Menu and loading screen simulator.

I don't know, when I played one and three I could feel that there was a good idea behind them, they just did not execute. I had bought into the hype and got Molyneuxed again so I guess I only have myself to blame.

I am looking forward to this, the first one was a ton of fun and me and a friend are always on the lookout for good coop titles.

The Sorceress design is shit, though. *sigh*

What's wrong with it? I quite like it, got a bit of that silly retro fantasy style that I miss from todays fantasy games now that they are all srs bsns. Yes I am one of those who prefer high heels in games even though they are completely unrealistic, why? Because I think it looks better :p

Liberté, égalité, fraternité!

I, being a voice of reason suggest we prepare a navy and invade the United States. It is the only logical choice!
