DF Gameplay Questions / Interface Question

I've had this little thing:
(The H/0/0/0/0/.... thing)
In the lower right hand border of my game for as long as this version has been out, right next to the Z-level indicator. What exactly do all these numbers and colors indicate? They seem to change fairly often and I couldn't find anything on the wiki about it or any pattern in what they are. Anyone have an idea?
