I'll take the third turn. Could I be dwarfed as the best doctor in the fort?

The food production area above the dining hall has been finished, as well as the farms above that and the food storage on the same level as the dining hall. 3 baby jackalopes were washed done the former irrigation shaft when the rain filled the murky pool used to irrigate the new farms. It seems that my decision not to bring a smith at embark was smart, as a weapon smith prodigy arrived in the first migrant wave. The dining hall itself is not finished yet, as the workshops and bedrooms are more important right now. The first pig iron bars were minted today, and steel should be soon to follow. Overall, Chaoscastles is performing wonderfully.
EDIT: Hail Armok! Our first ever thief arrived this winter, and was quickly slaughtered by the brave Nephilim friends of the Assaulted Blanket!

Silvermasters has been claimed by the irrigation network, so a new fortress shall rise in another land. Behold, the Assaulted Blanket of the King of Leaders, a proud group of dwarves searching for a new home. Crazycastles (my best randomly generated name yet) has had the blessing of Armok laid upon it. Soil layer? Yellow sand. Sedimentary Layer? Chalk. First Five layers of the sedimentary layer? Magnetite.

A hunter, wood burner, and farmer were lost the the three ambushes we've had so far in our second year, as well as two goblins and two lizardmen caught in our under-construction outer wall and cage traps. Our militia of 2 dwarves assisted by caravan guards have so far dealt with the ambushes without incident, although we now have two hunters unable to walk still bringing in kills... Id had his spine fractured in three places and several other severe injuries, but was somehow saved my dwarven medicine, although he continues to hunt with three infections, 2 bandages, 4 sutures, and a cast on his leg... The other tried to get a giant olm that broke his leg, and then ran away. This is the best experience with dwarven medicine that I've had so far. Severe coal shortages have led to the burning of over 300 logs in the furnace eventually, and the first of the tungsten warhammers and mauls came out of the smithy a few days ago. Silvermasters shall not fall! Unless we get a siege this winter... The added traders from LFR really seem to increase attacks/thieves if you export much. I've had 9 thieves and six snatchers, and its still summer of the second year.

I once had an embark (500 year worldgen) with a cave dragon showing up on my deceased list after a month. I never dug past the fIrst cavern level, and a goblin siege followed by a tantrum spiral/loyalty cascade killed my fort.

More workshop levels were installed today. The masons were put to work on the new alchemy laboratory, but not one of them had the time to actually build the workshop. However, the complete microcline and cinnabar decor has been successfully installed. Five kobold thieves, 2 goblin snatchers, and a lizardmen thief came over the course of the summer, winter, and fall. I put several peasants to work as hunters to train up their archery skills, and several skilled migrants have arrived. Once the weapon smith is trained enough an iovium equipped hammersquad will guard the entrance with the sharpshooters. Additionally, quite a bit of miasma is starting to build up in the kitchens.

Dear 7 odd masons,
4 of you have taken a break in the last month twice. 3 of you are working. But somehow, not one of you has the time to construct my brand new alchemy laboratory. You may notice a few of the workers installing a grate and pipe or two in your rooms. Please let them go about their business. And stay in your rooms.
Sincerely,
The Overseer.

Plans for the military have begun to take shape with the arrival of several skilled migrants. The dining hall is complete, although the construction of furniture is expected to take several seasons. The bedrooms have been expanded, and the farms were moved down to freshly irrigated chambers above the dining hall. Several hunters have also arrived.

Construction of the dining hall continues unhindered. The first migrants have arrived. No useful skills to be had...

How do you get out of a pit? I was walking along a riverbank, and it asked me if I wanted to cast my line to try to catch something. Then I fell into a pit of some kind, and took a ton of damage. There is solid rock all around me, and but no water...

Make the monks subsist on a diet of raw plump helmets and ice-cold mountain water. No cooked food, no alcohol, and no meat.

This isn't a fortress name, but my current dwarves are all members of Astesh Bunem-the Cudgels of Soothing
