Also, since this is a bug, you can use teleport.exe to teleport them a few tiles away from the workshop.

Nothing in particular that I know of, but a lot of problems posted on these forums have easy solutions on the wiki.
Have you ctrl-alt-deleted and then played without restoring from a backup?
Have you read the wiki?
There is just less point in having them look detailed.
Cancel the above. It annoys me too because I see detailed walls on DFMA.
I think you could make a workaround with hide.exe and granite.exe. I haven't actually done it, but I think it would be possible. See this page on the wiki for my idea because the forum doesn't have good enough formatting capabilities to do it to my satisfaction.
It may take a very long time but with a download manager that can pause downloads I think it is possible.
You'd want Graphics Driver -> GeForce 4 Series -> <insert>.
