(which racists and/or ignorant people like to call "ebonics") is also a dialect.
Not sure if this is necessarily correct. AAVE might be more academically accepted, but as far as I can tell the popular usage of "Ebonics" in the first place comes from its use in the '90s Oakland Ebonics controversy. Granted, IIRC, the pro-AAVE side in that debate also claimed black people were genetically predisposed to speak "Ebonics" and that it was a different language from English.

Dibs. Well, maybe it's a breach of protocol, but I'm already done. Added some to the village.

The US-Canada flag shall be a tricolor with blue on the left, white in the middle, and red on the right. On the white part there shall be a red maple leaf, and on the blue part there shall be 60 stars for the 60 provinstates of the new union.

There's also the contingency plan if Mexico wants in: put a white maple leaf on the red part instead and put the Mexican rock-cactus-eagle-snakestack on the white part. Also, add more stars.

That's a poor comparison. Computer science is actually useful.
Yeah, but I'm only talking about the gender imbalances, which I'd reckon are fairly similar (in opposite directions, of course).

honestly? not fucking likely

one of them is a physics doctoral student, she's already smarter than me and probably always will be
she
Explains it. Being a (straight) female physics student presents similar romantic/sexual opportunities to being a (straight) male theater student. In both cases, as the cliché goes, "the odds are good but the goods are odd".

Not to say those are the most gender-imbalanced fields of study, just the most gender-imbalanced fields of study that you can get without becoming toxic to one or the other. Can't imagine the women of computer science date a lot within their field, and same for the men of gender studies.

I was watching some videos about the base-building mechanics and now I'm wondering if, between Fallout 4 and MGSV, base building is going to be the new equivalent of simplistic item crafting or rudimentary stealth mechanics that gets crammed into every AAA game. Not to say I dislike any of these either in principle or their implementation, but I'm interested in whether there's any other evidence for such an upcoming phase.

I found $2 laying on the sidewalk, chewed the same piece of gum for five hours without ever realizing it, and one of my friends seems to have conjured a PS4 out from thin air.

Oh, on the subject of more serious WTF, can someone explain what the Mizzou bullshit is? My knowledge of it is "some racist incident > protests > president resigns > more protests > neo-Nazi violence" but literally every other relevant detail has escaped me, and I can't imagine how any reasonable people on either side could have reacted the way they have were there not something more to it.
inb4 "there are no reasonable people on either side", which may well be it.
Liberal arts professor says something racist (maybe?) > protests (well, internet outrage) > protests > racist yikyak death threats > protests > turns out yikyak death threats were false flag > lawyer up I am besmirched > protests again > erm... > proffies apologizing over what? > ok now they're stepping down > ahhhhhh
But why did the president step down if it was just a random professor who said something racist (maybe)? I understand he represents the whole college in a way, but unless there's another missing piece it would have made more sense for him to help convince the professor to quit.

The students protesting are definitely unreasonable, the journalists are understandable but with misplaced intentions, and the neo-nazi stuff was fake.
That makes sense. I figured the students were unreasonable, after hearing about the "SAFE SPACE MEDIA STAY OUT" sign in a public space and from the fact that college students haven't done sincere protesting since the 1970s. Nonetheless, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt about the hyperbolic "NEO NAZIS ARE GOING AROUND MURDERING BLACK STUDENTS" claims just because there were so many of them, but I can totally imagine that it's just that - hyperbole.

Apparently many people in Youtube comments have no clue that 144p mode didn't exist until the last year or two.

That rate of memory loss is frankly frightening.
Why the hell would anyone watch 144p video? Don't just say "bad internet connections" because they would have been even worse when YT started and TIL they didn't have that back then. Actually, I thought that it was only there as legacy support from the days of weaker internet.

Is it so people can watch videos on hacked Gameboys or something?

Integrated graphics almost never "cuts it" unless it's 10+ years old.

They cut it for AAA games made in 2014 for me.
My integrated graphics get me through most of 2013, and I've got a laptop.

EDIT: Should say that I do have to turn the graphics way down for 2013, and even 2012 can get taxing. That's why I'm not in a rush to get anything 2014-onward.

i think the new dialoge system indeed is troublesome. not because the 4 options, thats actually fine with me.
the problem i have, is that my choices always are shown in like 2-3 words, then i have to guess what i will say if i pick a certain choice.
I always wondered why more games with the dialog-wheel system didn't do what DE:HR did and let you mouse (or, uh, control stick) over the option to see what the full text would be. It's such a simple fix for what is easily the dialog wheel's biggest flaw that it's hard to believe any game since wouldn't use it unless Eidos patented it or some bullshit

Are they really releasing it based on local time? Seems like a bizarre thing to do in the internet age; Steam says it won't be out for three more hours.

Personally, I hate to say it, but I'll avoid the hype as best I can. This is the first game in a long time that I've been interested in enough to want myself, but which I can neither run on my computer nor am willing to buy at full price. So I'll resign myself to ducking spoilers until I get a better PC and it inevitably goes on Steam sale for tembux two years from now.

But killing Caesar was the biggest disappointment I had in NV (I loved it regardless though) since basically no one gives a rat's ass that you actually killed him. But I guess it goes along the line of no one caring that you're the Dragonborn in Skyrim.
Heh, same. I did like some of the NPC throwaway lines about Caesar's death but it bothered me that it didn't affect anything.

Actually killing him, though, was probably the toughest puzzle that NV through at me, with the number of overpowered goons crammed into such a small space. I also went for the challenge of killing him with a knife, so I had to gun down all the goons first to do it safely. Then I posed his body in his throne again and apparently no one ever went back into the tent to clear it out.
