Yes but its a bug, they should be able to fire up/down, just like all creatures with ranged weapons.

Try out different drivers. If all of them are slow, its a hardware problem probably.

Guys...check the DEV NOTES before posting new topics. This fix wasnt included in the recent release. Toady must fix tons of bugs, and we will have a new release each week AFAIK.

Send in your savegame to:
toadyone@bay12games.com

Also explain your problem in the email.

You guys should send in your savegames to Toady, so he will be able to check out the problematic part.

I think they run off when they spot their tamer. Someone has mentioned this in an other thread.
Perhaps Toady can look into this. Sounds like an annoying thing.

Yes but its still making no sense. Dwarves should catch fire near magma, just like any other creatures without a heat resistance.
Perhaps this should be solved later on. Like adding some special clothes with fire resistance. All dwarves who would like to work near magma should wear these, or else RIP. It could be done, however only after a better "equipping system" will be added in.

Well, I was thinking about like this: Lets say z-level 0 is the surface of the river. So z-level 0 is frozen and z-level -1 is frozen for lets say 25 tiles. Than after that point only Z-level 0 is frozen for lets say another 25 tiles. After that not even z-level 0 is frozen. This is what possible in nature. That is what I meant.

I dont see any problems with this. It is very possible in the nature also, that a part of a river is frozen, and the other part is not, because some specific things can influence water temperature.

Mmmmm....this sounds bad. I wanted to design a nice tower near my fortress entrance and let marksdwarves guard on the top of the tower, but as people have said in the other thread, the dwarves rarely hit anything from other z levels. I dont know if its true or not, but if it is, its really bad.   :(

I dont care about mud to be honest. However the cleaning should be upgraded I agree. Dwarves just very rarely clean anything as it seems like.

Oh I see, thanks for the info.   :)

Okay, so this is what happened. I just started a game since I lost the last one as usual.    :D
I made my farm from the outside river and just began to work on bedrooms. So the game was running for like 40 minutes only.
My carpenter began to work on the beds, he made 2, then some small monster damaged his left arm. My guards killed the little bastards of course. Anyways his arm was in yellow color. He made 1 more bed, then he wanted to rest. The only problem is that he never woke up once more. He was dehydratated. When I realized that he is still resting in a bed and hes near death because of dehydratation, I quickly assigned a new carpentet to make a bucket and give him water. The problem was that when the carpenter was on his way to get water with the bucket, he dropped the bucket near the river, because some monster scared him away. My main carpenter died.

So the question is: Why is my main carpenter refused to get up from the bed? He only had a yellow colored left arm, I guess that isnt a serious injury.
When I checked his profile all I was seeing is that my carpenter is resting. No other messages on the screen.
